Sick of winter!!!!! Argh!!!!!

snow incoming at this 20. i busted my tail to get a whole day's work done in five hours so i could beat the weather home. meteorologists say 6+ inches, but their track record hasn't been great this year. they usually seem to want to hype it up.

i'll be glad to see this winter end. if i recall correctly, one year ago today i took my first motorcycle ride of the year in 80 degree weather. that was certainly an anomaly, but count me ready for spring.

Yep, we are getting Buried here on the South Side of the City. 6-10 inches and they are saying some areas down by us may get more. I hate having to go out in the Chit. At least they are plowing down where I am. Already we have like a bit over 4inches of Snow.

CHICAGO (AP) — A late winter storm packing up to 10 inches of snow sent officials in weather-hardened Chicago into action Tuesday to prevent a repeat of scenes from two years ago, when hundreds of people in cars and buses were stranded on the city's marquee thoroughfare during a massive blizzard.....snip~

Yeah, me and my snow thrower spent some quality time together too. Although, I left him outside since he likes the stuff.

Supposed to get more snow this weekend here too. Just when it all melted away too! :( It's not supposed to be as bad as the last storm thankfully.

Hope y'all stay safe and warm! Hopefully old man winter retires soon!!

I actually miss snow sometimes. I haven't done any skiing in years, and I did enjoy doing some things in the snow. Plus it always reminded me of catching an occasional Michigan hockey game.

Plus I told some friends that I would make it up for the Winter Classic the year when it was held in the "Big House" - a.k.a. Michigan Stadium. Unfortunately, work got in the way.

I've only seen two Wings games at the Joe in my life.

Wow. That's time to hunker down. Chicago hasn't had much snow this winter. Tonight we're supposed to get 5" or so. Hope they're wrong since I have some driving to do tomorrow and don't like slippery.

Keep safe and warm, Maggie.

i'm happy about the latter. as for the former, i would vastly prefer it if we moved the clocks forward and left them that way. i hate clock switching. it throws me off for weeks. count me as a vote for permanent DST.

Fortunately, I've never really felt too affected by changing the clocks. That must suck though.

i grew up in a state without DST, so yes, it bothers me more than most. what really annoys me is that we switch back to standard time for only a couple of months. i really don't see the point. just leave it in place.

Yeah, one hour really doesn't make much difference.

Punxsutawney Phil blew it. it's going to be a high of 33 here on the first day of spring.

another snowstorm on its way. looks like the commute Monday morning might suck.

update : eight inches of snow. shoveled for 45 minutes to get out, and it drifted back over as i took off for work. attempted the main highway through the icy slopes of Hoth, and made it maybe 10 miles. boss called my cell and told me not to even bother. i'm finally back home.

i've decided to to accept winter II. merry Christmas, everyone.

It looks like things are beginning to warm up around here. For the next few days, they're predicting temps near 50

He has made my "shoot on sight" list.

Damn rodent.

That's a bummer. I'd say the boss owes you for your time shoveling and attempting to get there. lol Like that will work.

nah, he's great. he actually called me as i was getting ready to turn around and come back home. he told me not to worry about coming in. most bosses would just say suck it up and get your ass in here. that flexibility is a big part of the reason that i continue to work there for less than i should be getting paid. not having to deal with irrational idiots at work is worth its weight in gold, i always say.

Well, he has his weight in gold having you as an employee. Maybe now is the time to ask for a raise? lol

he recently said words to me that no boss has ever uttered to an employee : "i realize that you are significantly underpaid."

unfortunately, i work in academic research, and my salary is paid by a grant. i'll be lucky to keep my job if they hack the **** out of NIH. my best hope at my current job is that i'll be absorbed by the department. also, if i can manage to pull another two years there, i qualify to collect a pension when i retire. if i leave before that, i'll see very little return, and i've put a lot of money in. additionally, the main biotech hub in my area is an hour and fifteen minutes away. this job is only 45, and it's all country highway driving. also worth its weight in gold (except for when we get a blizzard.) i could move closer, but i'd take a bath on my house.

the upside is that i think i'm good for another year, and i am getting some raise soon; not sure how much.

A Facebook friend who lives in Texas posted a picture of his house with a few inches of snow and more coming down. I've never been to Texas, but always thought it was pretty warm and dry most of the time.

Here in the late, great Golden State, it was 75 and sunny yesterday, predicted to be 79 this afternoon, but a bit cloudy.

We haven't run the heat in weeks, and haven't used the AC at all yet.
