Shutting Down Freeways (the 101)?

Happened all the time in LA. One accident would shut down the entire freeway minus one lane. Then everyone on the other side has to stop to look. It took me 45 minutes to go about 12 miles on most days and could be up to an hour and a half on days like today when the freeway is effectively closed.
That's why they have this:
22400. (a) No person shall drive upon a highway at such a slow speed as to impede or block the normal and reasonable movement of traffic unless the reduced speed is necessary for safe operation, because of a grade, or in compliance with law.
There's more to the law, but I don't recall seeing any exceptions for rubbernecking or protesting.

Based on experience I might not object to rubbernecking violations. ;)

Incorrect.
Pretty sure I never said that.

Counter point

Is there an acceptable way to disrupt the lives of millions of people in protest?
Probably...

Blocking people's freedom of movement is not peaceful.
it is not violence

I never said that it was supposed to be peaceful. I said that it isn't, in this case, peaceful.

Counterpoint

I thought it was understood that Civil DISobedience is peaceful in nature.

It already is. You are assuming things I never said over and over.
I quoted your posts where you say the things you never said

Know what's funny? A few years ago a convoy of dumbass Canadian truckers protested not being able to cross the American border unvaccinated by shutting down and occupying downtown Ottawa. Yeah, I know, stupid, right? But it went on for a couple weeks- transit vehicles couldn't get through, emergency vehicles couldn't get through, elderly residents had their lives disrupted and endangered. Bastards sounded their air horns at random intervals through the nights.
Finally, after a couple weeks, the Canadian government clamped down on them and towed their trucks out of town. The American right got up and howled about tyranny! Suppressing protest! Canadian government dictatorship! The same rightist morons who are calling for hardcore measures to counter blocking a hiway for an afternoon.
Yeah, go pound sand. Nobody cares.

I drove the freeways for almost twenty years and never came across a closed freeway or one down to one lane. Not once.

the 5, the 405, the 105, the 605, the 10, the 710, the 110, the 210, the 57, the 55, the 91 and the 101.

I might be missing one or two, but not once.

.
Beats me. I drove the 101 and 405 for nearly 20 years and at least one day a month was a complete stoppage for at least 30-45 minutes. It got old and being tired of traffic factored into my leaving LA in some small part. I've been unlucky also to have 3 8hr+ freeway blocks in CA (Only one of those was in LA).

Utter bullshit. Literally millions of people having their lives disrupted because of these treasonous sons of bitches... they should all be arrested, and immigration status checked.

Shutting down freeways isn't that uncommon. While it may be a violation of a law, it's not at all "treason".

I remember this. Some of the truckers brought their kids along. I don't recall our right-wingers' being up-in-arms over these "protesters".

Good catch - and thanks for reminding us of this disruptive event.

Consistency is not the righties' strength.

It took my son and his family 12 hours to get home from his daughter's socker club match in LA last night. Damn right they're treasonous sobs.

get a load of the foreigner erroneously calling Americans treasonous

hard to take your words seriously when you screw up your accusations that badly

try again?
This is suddenly new to you? *the bolded above. Do you realize how many foreign posters have called Americans treasonous? Selective memory?

Btw, he's an American citizen.

They are not guilty of "treason", no matter how many times you fling that word about.

I haven't noticed your referring to the hundreds of people who participated in trump's Jan 6 violence as "treasonous". Nor have you used "treasonous" to describe trump's pardoning of many of those thugs.

Any person that stepped foot inside the Capitol is a treasonous bastard. Back in the day they would be executed. Today they are pardoned.

Yeah, you did. The title of this thread is "Shutting down the freeways". In YOUR opening post, you wrote the above.

Yeah. You said those who shut down the freeways are treasonous, which means they have committed treason.

You forgot what you wrote in the OP. We all make mistakes of this kind. Don't make it worse by denying it.

And, no, shutting down a freeway isn't treasonous. Those who do so are not guilty of committing treason.
