Been in a long distance relationship for 12 years or so.

I spend time in IM with the luvovmylife. We have simple and silly little things developed over the years... Your my HE-ro, yur MYYYYY Bunny- I luff YOU. I do my best to make her laugh so she doesn't feel the separation as much.

cyber sex and sexy pictures don't do it for us. Discussing house plans and cattle do... keeping her up to date on the 'calvages' and their 'calvie' races.

She loves sending me E-cards and Icanhascheezburger 'crap' because she knows it 'annoys' me.

We have lots of little sayings formed over the years... "I am so glad we are us and not them' Yaaay for OUR team

I suppose all of that is to say it is probably different for every couple but there is a bonding ritual for every group. in the olden days we called it team building, giving the group as sense of identity it can hold as unique and it's own.

For us it seems working together on a problem- house plans. Sharing the fun part of the day, some silliness that is ours, and opening up without sounding needy.

Might not be affection as much as closeness.

I know it might sound corny but truth be told a good old fashioned handwritten letter can do wonders. Just tell him that you're thinking of him and that you look forward to seeing each other. It's an amazingly personal thing to do and doesn't even need to be sexy to get the job done.

Nothing beats talking on the phone. Getting emails from people I care about pisses me off and makes me stop caring about them.
