So let's see, the incoming president can unilaterally -- without congressional approval -- decide to impose in exactly 8 days.
???

Impose what?

What are you talking about?

When exactly is the time to take a stand on this?
Jesus!!

Don't you ever read what you are responding to? I already said when it's time to take a stand.

Stop wasting my time.

Bye.

Why would we even want to force them to merge with the United States?
We don't.

Just a general comment and not directed at you.
This is just another example of faux outrage and conspiracy conjured up by the extremists, the anti-Trumps.
It's pathetic that anyone would have to point this out, but Trump was joking about making Canada the 51st state.

There is not going to be ANY mergers, no annexation, no nothing. We are talking about this because Trump doesn't want us to talk about other stuff, like his recent sentencing, the SCOTUS slap, Jimmy Carter, and Elon's headline grabbing rhetoric.

Remember, when Trump says something outrageous, something ridiculous, he does it to distract us from SOMETHING else. Figure out what he doesn't want us talking about. Then, talk about that.

Trump isn't gonna lower grocery/gas prices and he don't have a healthcare plan.

Canada should accept extending their border south to the Mason Dixon line, then Mexico can extend theirs north to the new border.

Trump keeps telling us he hates what's (not) between his legs. Leave it it to neoconfederates to make a politics out of Trump's self-loathing and overcompensation.

We didn’t do very well the first time we invaded Canada…

Anyway, invading Canada and then holding it are two different things. Given the distances between the major population centers, support and supply would be difficult at best. Estimates show that invading is easy, but we will need a constant presence of two million troops to maintain the entirety of Canada. That is a large financial and manpower commitment. Be prepared to pay for it.

Tariffs will just hurt us. Not only can they smack us back (as can the rest of the world), they can also find other markets fairly easily. They would prefer to trade with us, certainly. But no one but a weak leader would kow tow to weak and vain leader like Trump.

Why would we even want to force them to merge with the United States?
For that matter, if we're merging, does that mean they get to set up states, or do the provinces just become states?
If so, Quebec would become the second largest state in the USA, after Alaska.

And how do the political parties merge, or do we finally get more than 2?

I don't want either.

If we take on Canada , we have to take on their sorry socialized medicine , which we can't afford.

Make Canada a better trade partner? Sure

Insist that Canada do more to protect the northern border? Sure

Take them on a state/territory/lil brother? Nah

Our system isn't socialized.

Another one who's never heard of the STCA.

FFS, people have lost their collective shit over this subject.

People I know up there say it is, so I'm more inclined to believe them than you.

I found this: https://www.caringsupport.com/blog/advantages-and-disadvantages-of-canadas-healthcare-system
"The health system implemented all over Canada is also widely known as Canadian Medicare. This is a publicly funded system that provides universal healthcare coverage to all Canadian citizens and permanent residents. The system is administered and funded by the government, with each province and territory responsible for delivering healthcare services to its residents."

I don't know, but this sounds a lot like socialized health care. The biggest difference for Canada is each Province is responsible for administration as opposed to Great Britain. In the end, the Govt. runs the program

No.

We didn’t do very well the first time we invaded Canada…
It wouldn't end well now, either.

Canada's air force and armored forces would cease to exist inside of a week. Their navy would go even faster.

However, Canada is the 2nd largest nation on Earth, with 80% of Canadians living in cities. If their army hits the outback, hunting them down will be almost impossible, and the long distances between cities would make logistics a nightmare. Best estimates are that it would take 2,000,000 troops to garrison Canada's cities and major highways. Pacifying the entire country would require something along the lines of 6 million garrison troops, and that is factoring in widespread drone coverage.

.t is time for people to take a stand on this both liberal and conservative, pro and con MEGA.
It seems you are not able to deduce things!
Trump has a way of Negotiating, he's a hard ass. It actually works well. i.e. NATO circa 2017.
