Should the gop change its name to the 'constitutionalists'?

Nah they have a cause alright: and that's to get rid of democracy and institute plutocracy/aristocracy/oligarchy, maybe with Charles Koch running the country.

They can get popular support for that because a lot of people think their skin tone or religion will make them a part of that privileged ruling class. But the masses being used don't realize their abject ignorance and latent prejudices and bigotry are just being used for the purposes of a handful of elite like toilet paper. No one really cares about their skin tone or whether they say "Merry Christmas".

ALEC is owned by a very smart cookie however that does entitle him to ownership of our government or we the people or entitle he /them to ownership of OUR government and the trillions of tax dollars that come with ownership. Privatization is Koch/style fascism make no mistake about it.

Organizations and corporations like to rebrand if for some reason the names of such have become equated with a pile of shit such that GW Bush and Trump have accomplished under a GOP umbrella.

Contrary to rightwing propaganda, Democrats understand Capitalism just fine- even folks like Bernie Sanders. The difference between the two parties today is not about understanding capitalism. It's about whether basic human rights, as outlined in the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human rights (things like the right to food, clean water, shelter, access to healthcare, and a basic education) should be protected in a society, or whether societies should have the freedom of the jungle- where the strong thrive and rule, and those finding themselves in positions of weakness and vulnerability get eaten for lunch.

Anyone who believes in the protection of human rights and basic humane safety nets in society by definition cannot belong in today's Republican Party. The Republican Party is the party of freedom: the freedom of the jungle.
The point is, I typically vote for democrats. I would vote for Bloomberg as a Republican candidate over any other right-wing (republican) candidate.

Give us some examples.

They should change their name to the Foxican party.....

International democracy watchdog agencies have enumerated many. That’s why American democracy is now getting ranked below that of Mongolia and Argentina.

Do you have a credible source? That one is a bunch of Left wing bleating about social justice.

Don't forget, it's the Left that wants to ban guns, restrict speech, etc.

Republicans have been liberals and Democrats have been conservatives in our history......from a financial perspective if our economy should fail and millions lost their jobs, a lot of working class conservatives would demand that those Republican candidates they voted for get on the social program wagon (which they really have never been off of) ......and religious fundamentalists would be in lock step.......

The GOP are not constitutionalists. They are a huge government, big spending, big debt, big war, big brother party. Absolutely not constitutionalists.

Should the gop change its name to the 'constitutionalists'?

How would that make sense? Significant numbers of them are trying to overthrow the Republic for which the Constitution is one of the founding documents.

Right-wingers don't care about being Legal to the Law except in border threads.

The defense and protection of the state and of the United States is an obligation of all persons within the state. The legislature shall provide for the discharge of this obligation and for the maintenance and regulation of an organized militia.

Let's take the issue of abortion. The right would love to kill Roe v Wade saying it is not a constitutionally protected right. Fair enough, it's not mentioned in the constitution as are many many other laws that are not mentioned in the constitution, yet they exist.

Republicans obviously know just as well as Democrats abortion rights ARE in the Constitution. Every time they say otherwise, it is a blatant lie.

See the Fourth, Fifth, Ninth, Thirteenth, and Fourteenth Amendments. All of them can be used to prove abortion is a constitutionally protected right in America.

Post the text that says abortion is a right.

Show us the word that make abortion a right.

If you only care about seeing the word, you don't want proof because it requires THINKING about the words, not just reading them.

I will prove it to you when you are willing to think about text, not just look for certain words on pages.

The Constitutionalists sounds too much like the name of a rock group. Since Trump has caused the GOP to lose its bearings, a better name would be The Drifters.

Those words don't exist. Nothing in the Constitution makes abortion a right.

Grifters*

They wrote the 9th amendment because of people like you, people who think we have zero rights except for those specifically enumerated.

You are continuing to insist only what words are in it matter, not what the words in it mean.

So you will just ignore whatever I say if I prove abortion is a constitutional right.

Is driving a car right?
