If a woman who is 4 months pregnant is murdered and someone is to be punished for it, should they be punished for murdering the woman alone — the judge ignoring the fetus that died — or should the punishment be greater because of that?

Your question is not congruent with the available answers.

You asked whether it should be this or that. An either/or question.
That is not a yes or no choice.

We should execute them twice.

Seriously,

"Should the punishment be greater?"

But you know what, it's not necessary for you to vote.

It does get you a more severe punishment. In some states it's a double homicide.

Seriously,
Yes seriously.
You did not ask a "yes" or "no" question you asked an either/or.

"If a woman who is 4 months pregnant is murdered and someone is to be punished for it, should they be punished for murdering the woman alone — the judge ignoring the fetus that died —

or

should the punishment be greater because of that?"

A "yes" or "no" answer means absolutely nothing to what you asked.
Answering "yes " in your either/or question could very well mean the person answering wants the person charged with murdering the woman alone.

There are a massive range of factors which should and do influence the nature of punishment someone convicted of a serious crime will receive. Knowingly killing a pregnant woman could well count as an aggravating factor but it's only going to be one aspect of the wider context and isn't going to be the only (or necessarily most significant) factor influencing the overall sentence.

And no, none of that has the slightest thing to do with abortion.

Is she wearing a burka.

Death is death...there is no greater punishment than that...

Are you suggesting that if she is killed by another person we should not hold that person accountable for her death because she is already dead?

Since I think all murderers should be executed, I don't have to decide whether there should be more punishment for this or that. (Yes, it's easy being me.)

In many states murder is defined as the unlawful killing of a human being or a fetus with malice aforethought. So the answer would be yes in those states, and therefore a greater punishment for murdering two innocent people. Hopefully two consecutive life sentences, or the death penalty.

A dilemma I suppose might be if someone murdered a pregnant woman movements before she walked into a an abortion slaughter house to murder her own baby. In that case the murdering mother I suppose experienced some comic justice, but still the murderer should be punished all the same.

No...

No. Assuming it was intentional, either way the penalty should be life in prison without the possibility of parole. That should be the case whether some kills one woman, one woman who is pregnant, or a thousand pregnant women.
