Kanye had a wildly antisemitic interview with Alex Jones today, wherein he claimed that Hitler did good things, denied the Holocaust, defended the Nazis, and had a psychotic episode with a butterfly net. Clearly, this was too far even with Alex Jones, who threw Kanye some lifelines that were rebuffed, and then resorted to nervous laughter as Kanye slowly descended into open praise of Hitler. After the interview, YE doubled down, posting an amalgamation of the Star of David and the swastika on Twitter, labeling it "#LOVESPEECH". With all of this in mind, should Kanye be de platformed (and sent to a psychiatric hospital)?

Details of his various shenanigans on the interview...

Kenny, damn you... we agreed, first you will destroy the United States after we help you win, then you carry this nonsense. Не got it all mixed up again.

But seriously, a person needs help.
There is such a nuance that when a person is an idiot, only his relatives and acquaintances usually know about it, but at the current time television and the Internet allow idiots to notify a much larger circle of people about themselves... usually, no one is confused by this.

Depends on what you mean. If you mean losing sponsors and business contracts, yeah. If you're talking about being removed from speaking/writing or whatever on various platforms, no.

He shouldn't be deplatformed in the sense of being cancelled for saying naughty things. But he should be deplatformed in the sense that it's not right for us to gawk at mentally unwell people during manic episodes. He just needs someone in his life who can take away his phone and keep him away from the media for a while.

The media has done this exact same circus before with Britney Spears and Charlie Sheen, among others. It's exploitative.

Did you agree with him?

As long as he doesn’t start inciting violence then I would agree with you. Better to be able to just point them out and deal with them with lack of dollars more than anything else.

He needs to be committed. Does he have no relatives who can Baker act him? He suffers a debilitating disease by his own admission.

So you think people on DP shouldn't be suspended/banned for blatantly expressing racist or antisemitic rhetoric?

Kanye doesn't have a right to be on any platform, either.

I take issue with this, insofar as to say that antisemitism, ethnic bigotry and admiration for genocidal tyrants is not the product of mental illness.

There are plenty of mentally ill people who do not suddenly start hating Jews or loving Nazis.

Do you have any evidence that Kanye "hates Jews"?

So you think you can decide the consequences for racist or anti-semitic rhetoric on a public forum? You do not think that is harmful or hateful speech and not protected under the 1st amendment?
