Should JD Vance be calling the Chinese "peasants" ? (1 Viewer)

I can believe that it might make him popular among his ill educated hillbilly fans but is it really needed ?
The US and China already have issues to address and this doesnt help that at all.

we borrow money from Chinese peasants to buy the things those Chinese peasants manufacture.”

Respect doesnt cost anything and neither does politeness.

Or is it a new form of diplomacy ? And the Chinese will respond to it in the way that JD would like ?

Maybe they could be less peasanty as they ride around on their high speed trains ?

Many many years ago China decided to build a huge dam. They had no modern equipment so they began by hand, peasants with shovels and buckets. Being communist no one would sell technology or heavy equipment so they designed and built earth movers that became the envy of the free world.

The dam was completed after China designed an intricate system of bridge building, using pre-cast concrete which the west quickly adopted.

They invented computing.

Their technology grew and they expanded into shipping so much that what we're wearing likely came in aboard a Chinese container. That pre-cast system is now in use all across the world.

Today, every major engineering project in the world benefits because of Chinese Engineering.

The Vice President is a typical American. Stupid, opinionated and racist.

Isn't China very regimented a hierarchical? Seems like "peasant" would be an apt description of the lowest elements of their population.

I'll tell Vance you tried

No it is not.

Feudalism went out decades ago ago

It is very meritocratic education and skill matter far more than the birth status in China today. One reason education is so important to mainland Chinese, it is one of the keys to financial success and in general getting off the farm

Well, he is a man of God.

Im not a political figure negotiating trade deals. I take your point but maga people strike me as being ill educated. There may be some who arent but Ive not met them yet,
Yet you have met enough poor Chinese citizens?

Their population has a "lowest element?" I thought that all were equal under communism? And that the Chinese were still people?

This is up with him calling British troops with more combat experience than him inexperienced soldiers lol

Also China's population is like 2/3 urban and 1/3 rural so wrong again, self-hating hillbilly

But in a very short space of time. Do you consider people who live in rural areas peasants? Is it even an insult?

Who told you that? I'm not claiming " feudalism". It certainly isn't democratic, right. Sure kids with talents and potential are cultivated. but for the great portion of Chinese are stuck at the lower end of the ladder.

China’s “peasants” are designing and building robots, and their rural areas are linked by high speed rail that we can only dream of having.
More apt term for many of Trump's rural voters....

Half of America voted for crude, unsophisticated, low IQ, and immoral as their preferred leadership style. We should hardly be surprised when that is what we have ended up with.

No one told me that, I have seen it, read it and see people who do it

Chinese people in general put a massive amount of importance into education. Chinese children typically send 12 hrs a day studying.

Is a good portion of China still poor, certainly but they don’t have to remain that way which is what your post seemed to indicate you meant.

Yeah, ok.

Yeah, ok.

Yeah ok

Just where do you think all the foreign students come from? China and India, Chinese parents pay a lot to give their kids an advantage to get better jobs and a better life. A hierarchical society would prevent that

And out of populations in excess of billions what percentage does that equate to? How Manu Uighur get top schools and scholarships, for instance?

Actually China has the equivalent of affirmative action.

Ethnic and cultural minorities get support to go to universities within China, including financial support. So quite a few, as it is easier to get in and easier to afford university for them.

Ok, if you say so.

I see feuldalism/peasantry as a state of mind rather than an exonomic condition.
For example vance and trump for that matter are relativly well off in financial terms.. But I see both as peasants.

JD can thank capitalists like foxconn for bringing back serfdom. Also peasants are incredibly revolutionary. I hope he watches his ass.
