Should immigrants have a path to citizenship?

Should law abiding immigrants be given citizenship?

One of the most hard working, law abiding groups in the country.

Being in the country illegally is....um....against the law. Working while in the country illegally is even more against the law. So no, they are not law-abiding. By definition.

I basically empathize with the reasons behind their illegal plight. In a perfect world every immigrant could enter the US legally, as it stands, such a world doesn't exist.
I empathize too - I also think staying in their home countries and fixing their home countries is very important. 750,000 homeless in USA, 36 million poverty, 13 million kids food insecurity, .... we have many many problems HERE we need to solve. We cannot fix all the countries in the world and their poverty issues and bad conditions, we simply cannot.

As far as Trump is concerned, cutting legal and ethical corners is his stock and trade. Trump is creating undocumented people. You appear to have zero concern over his legally questionable methods.... you're probably excited over them while fully supporting them.
RE: blatant hypocrisy.
I don't see it that way. Biden is responsible for adding many of them - I treat Biden and Obama and Trump all the same as far as questioning their means of deportations. unlike liberals who only want to point at Trump and never did the same with Obama and Biden.

The thing is that your focus on the illegality of foreigners appears suspiciously cherry-picked....a politically charged, faux rage.
Would you actually give two shits for immigration if it wasn't on the political radar?

I have been an advocate of strong border for 20 years, this isn't new to me. Its amazing how its changed in the past 4 years with so many illegals in my area.

Being in the country illegally isn’t a criminal offense. If working in the country illegally is “even more against the law” it’s super odd zero company officers who white these folks are being grabbed off the street.

Gee, every leftist on the site--72% want a path to citizenship for illegals. Of course they do. That was the whole point of opening the border in the first place. Change the demographic makeup of the country and create a permanent underclass of democrat voters.
Now if we adjust those results of left and right leaning in the forum to match reality, what are the results?
No, California merely has an incredibly stupid governor.
Which reflects the majority of the voters.

There's only 7 voters in this poll that said "no."

21, mostly Trump supporters, said "other."

And then when you talk to them their views are not as hardline as you might think.

And the ones that voted "yes" aren't as "pro" illegal immigration as you might think.

Presidents past and present.

No comparison.

I proposed an idea along these lines. Every undocumented person has 6 months to come forward and go through the process. If they have ANY criminal record they get deported. The rest get a path toward citizenship.

Those who do not come forward get deported forthwith.

you linked Jimmy Kimmel !! OMG ! I just spit coffee on my keyboard !

Trump’s administration deported 3.13 million people during his first term. In comparison, Obama deported 3.16 million, while Biden deported 4.44 million individuals in 2021 and 2022.

If you were ok with Obama and Biden deportations - and Democrats were because ya'll voted them in - the ONLY reason now to dislike Trump is because the Democrat party tells you too

that's the fact, isn't it ?

Income taxes. FICA taxes etc.
Why would they pay FICA? They can't collect Social Security.

They pay property taxes and sales tax.
