Ah well, we're never gonna agree. And that's fine. A little bit of a human approach has never hurt I think. Just remember, you only get treated as good as you treat others. You already seeing all your friends and allies uniting together and not taking your country serious. And it is the direct result of the narrow minded me first and let everybody else rot mentality that is pushed by the MAGA movement. Your views on immigration fall in that very same category. It is also the exact opposite of what made your country great in the first place. You welcomed them. What am I saying, you even forced them to come to your country and work for you for free!

I think we are done here. You start off with a friendly "Hi", but when frustrated, go to hyper partisan veiled ad hominems. US immigration laws should be enforced. It's not okay to arrogantly sneak across any nation's border. It is not only illegal, its disrespectful to the nation they claim to want to be a part of. Then they disrespect further when they wave the flag of the country, they claim to be fleeing during anti-Ice protests.

If you read other posts, you could have noticed that I address friendly people with their name and never with 'Hi'. There are very few exceptions to this. Please do not ever think again that I am being friendly to you. I may at times choose to be polite, but do not mistaken that for friendliness.

People often forget it was Ronald Reagan who granted Amnesty to millions of undocumented immigrants.

The solution to the problem isn't to kick everybody out. It's to have a pathway to citizenship that way you are on the books and accounted for. Meanwhile Ice agents are planting themselves outside court rooms to round up folks who are going through the proper legal procedures.

I find this statement interesting for three reasons:

1) it’s an acknowledgement that your original statement was disingenuous. You know what you’re asking of them isn’t something they can practically do if they want to stay in the U.S.

2) it reveals your true position, which is you want as little immigration as possible. The idea that immigrants must follow the rules is just a convenient rationalization.

3) you don’t believe life isn’t fair for yourself because you support a politician who you think will make life more fair in the way you define it. We could make the same statement about all the grievances that Trump supporters, who think of themselves as perpetual victims, have about the world and the society they find themselves in.

So, it’s almost as if there’s not a single thing you’re saying that’s true. And the common strand between all this is your own personal self interest, at least how you define it.

Yes, the “arrogance” sneaking across our border and working 2-3 jobs, paying taxes while receiving no benefits from them, supporting entire industries that Americans desperately need. All for the low price of below market wages and a virtually crime free community. I would trade ten red state residents for just one of these “arrogant” folks.
 
1. No it wasn't. Life isn't fair. What I'm asking is people to follow the law. There are a lot of immigrants that do just that. They are not rich or have anything extra. They wait their turn.
2. No it is not. I want as little ILLEGAL immigration as possible.
3. Not a Trump supporter. The fact that you imply such, invalidates all other arguments you have.

When you ask people to follow the law, and then support an immigration system where it's practically impossible for the vast majority of poor, low-skill immigrants from Central and South American to live and work in the U.S. your true position is not that you want them to follow the law. Your true position is you want them to "stay the **** out."

Even for people who follow every aspect of the law we do not have a good immigration system. The process is not fair. It's burdensome, unnecessarily complex, and the decisions about which immigrants can enter or stay are sometimes completely arbitrary.

So, let's test that. How much legal immigration do you want? How many legal immigrants do you want to allow into our country?

You can stop the act. The hard-working farmer image was more suited to the 1960s and they were paid under the table. Today it's about two things. Shady employers looking for cheap labor and the democrats looking to change voting demographics.
 

I'm as anti-Trump as it gets, but very much agree with your above points.

I would think your point #2 would be universally accepted.

You’re half right: we know virtually all of this labor benefits wealthy usually right wing business owners. That’s why we’ve seen zero arrests of the folks creating the labor economy for all these “criminals”.

Voting demographics are changing because young people don’t see a future in conservatism, which makes sense. It’s in the name.

That's a very odd statement considering that your democrat party had its ass handed to it in the 2024 elections. The vote seems to be trending towards conservatism, not away from it. Young people included.

No, but it would be great if they at least checked legal status before breaking the law as they’ve been.

The GOP won no landslide. Dems didn’t show up to vote. There is no trending towards conservatism. Vast majority of the country currently stands opposed to every single Trump position on every single issue. And that’s before he drags us into a new Republican forever war and a recession.

The US needs massive immigration reform. One of the greatest advantages the US has is that a large percentage of the world wants to come here. We need to reform the process so that we provide access to the best and brightest. Immigration is a strength of the US and is what our country is built upon. Ultimately, we're virtually all immigrants.

I basically empathize with the reasons behind their illegal plight. In a perfect world every immigrant could enter the US legally, as it stands, such a world doesn't exist.

As far as Trump is concerned, cutting legal and ethical corners is his stock and trade. Trump is creating undocumented people. You appear to have zero concern over his legally questionable methods.... you're probably excited over them while fully supporting them.

I say the same thing about states like Ohio when they pass those unpopular abortion bans. But CA doesn't have the ridiculous gerrymandering that Ohio does, making the legislature out of touch with the majority of the public. NY has some, but not nearly as badly as Ohio.

Gee, every leftist on the site--72% want a path to citizenship for illegals. Of course they do. That was the whole point of opening the border in the first place. Change the demographic makeup of the country and create a permanent underclass of democrat voters.
