While reading this 'Identity of Muslim student suspected of hate-crime hoax may soon be revealed', I started wondering if we should publish the names and pictures of all individuals who staged hate crimes, in order to prevent others from doing the same.

Throw them in jail for the amount of time that the person they accused would get if they were found guilty.

You mean, should we instate punishment by means of exposure to public mob violence? No.
I would be onboard with that if there were an actual victim, like if an actual individual was falsely accused. But if it was just some made up person who was accused I would dial it back. I'm not big on jail time for victimless crimes.
False reporting of a crime doesn't always produce a victim, but it's still a crime.

Wait a sec.....
CNN and Yahoo news is "ILLEGITIMATE!" to you, but a college newspaper is authority?
Anyway, I'd have no problem with hate crime hoaxers' identity being exposed, but I rather do wonder why certain people seem to be so single-mindedly determined to deny the existence of actual racism.

Cool, vote in the poll and make your opinion official.
But I need to know that your college student newspaper is a more valid source of factual news than CNN or Yahoo. I wouldn't want to vote in a fake poll, now would I?

Info sent.
"Sent"? I don't see any PMs popping up.
Just post it. Other people are entitled to know why this college newspaper is so much more trustworthy than the named media sources.
That's the Washington Post. You only found that article on 1/11/17. You didn't cite that in your OP, which was from 1/9/17, when you didn't know about the Washington Post article.
I asked you why you treated the college newspaper as a legitimate source in your OP. Do you have an answer for that or are you going to keep dishonestly moving goal posts?
Or perhaps you'd like to explain to me how it is that a Washington Post article you found on 1/11/17 proves that you had reason to trust a college newspaper article you found on 1/9/17?
(Interesting, though. You think liberal CNN and liberal Yahoo are ILLEGITIMATE! when you don't like what they said, but you consider liberal Washington Post LEGITIMATE! when you do like what they say.
Why is that?)
Buh bye. :2wave:
