I think "Independent" should be replaced with "Confused".........

More like "rejecting the notion that I must affiliate myself with your party's bull****"
Political lean is about Ideology, not party affiliation......
.....anyone who claims to have an Independent ideology......is confused.

I would like to request an Independent Independent lean, to differentiate myself from other independents.
But it can make it clear to others that your lean is not your party...
you can be conservative and independent...
there is nothing confused about it... In fact, being conservative or liberal along with indendent is an indication that you look at each issue for yourself and don't need party spin doctors to tell you what to think about it...

So you think Leftists wont merely label "Independent Conservatives" as "Republicans"?
(See: Tea Party)
If your a conservative.....then your not an independent......your a conservative.
Your own beliefs and principles are all that is needed to decide for yourself........and its your own beliefs and principles that define your ideology.

I have been thinking about this. I am quite conservative in my outlook, though I define what it means for myself and I am not affiliated with the GOP. However, due to my conservative lean, some mistakenly ascribe that to myself (and others who are like me.) Thus, should DP add 'independent conservative' and 'independent liberal' to the political affiliation options.

'Independent' and 'unaffiliated' are groups lairs and/or those without the balls to take a position on any issue take. IMO they should both be deleted, not expanded.
If the Tea Party doesn't want to be Republican they should try not voting for one or just become a third party.
Except that 'liberal' and 'conservative' are not parties :2wave:
