Sorry, that's just obtuse. Every woman who would have made a high school or college athletic team but for a man out competing them and taking their place has been harmed. Every woman who would have won first, second, or third in a meet but for the unfair competition with a biological man.

Progressives are throwing Dems a lifeline with candidates like Zohran Mamdani. Will Dems take it? Zohran won demographics that Dems have been bleeding to Republicans. Even against the vehement resistance of establishment Dems, Zohran pulled out a huge win. Imagine if establishment Dems actually formed an alliance with candidates like Zohran instead of with MAGA Republicans.

One can dream.

I'm not okay with it, no, but I don't want to get involved in professional athletics, because it's a distraction and not a real concern. No one has the right to engage in athletics. We can get into a larger discussion about how anti-trans sports measures hurt WOMEN, not help them. Do you want to go there? I'd rather stick to policy that impacts people's lives.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor, Stephen Breyer, and Elena Kagan - all of whom agreed with the majority decision in favor of trans people (along with Gorsuch and Roberts) - are exactly the same as Bull Connor spraying black people with firehoses. If this is your reaction to getting your way, I can only imagine your reaction if the case had gone the opposite way.

You know, the trans movement didn't have to be so extreme. They could have just declared victory and gone home, riding high on public goodwill, like the rest of the LGB movement did, after winning equality under the law and anti-discrimination measures. But no, instead they decided to push for increasingly ridiculous things like sex changes for minors. And then they decided to turn on their own supporters who were actively helping them for doing it wrong, much as you are doing with Sotomayor right now.

Enjoy being out on that limb all by yourself. Thank you for making it crystal clear why mainstream liberals were right to abandon your movement.

Should future court nominees be called upon to denounce this decision and their colleagues during their confirmation hearings? Is Samuel Alito, who opposed this decision, a civil rights hero in your view?

What does that have to do with this decision being similar to Plessy?
 
@Gatsby to minorities: Know your place and you'll be fine. Don't get uppity. Keep your head down and stay in the closet. The less visible the better.

These people are utterly incapable of defending their arguments on the merits. They HAVE to frame trans people as coming for your children and mutilating them (false). It's really no different, intellectually, than what RFK Jr is doing with vaccine policy.

You just can't explain fact to them in a manner that they can absorb. You can throw a metric ****ton of peer reviewed research at them, and they just stare at you like a wall and then repeat their previous arguments.

- Public Health Policy (e.g. Vaccines)

- Foreign Policy
- Political Corruption
- Climate Change
- Infrastructure
- Regulations
- Unions / Labor / Workers Rights

We're talking about trans rights because the right (including @Gatsby) cannot defend Dems going to the right in these areas.

Other than showing causality and being consistent with other studies, its just common sense. Their suicide rate is disproportionately high, when your own state turns against you, its sure to go up.

Nevertheless, another study shows they suffer mental duress when subjected to these laws, but that does not effect you.

Unfortunately it's true. They don't want trans people to be able to actually transition and lead a healthy, productive lives. They want them to be like Klinger on MASH when they apply for a job and face a life of discrimination and ostracization.

Gender affirming care actually leads many people OUT of transitioning. They reject the healthcare policy because trans people benefit from it, overwhelmingly. It's a fully reactionary, anti-science, anti-healthcare position in the mold of RFK's Jr anti-vaxx campaign. And they should be treated with the seriousness of RFK Jr.
