I personally don't think they should. There should be laws to protect them ( to an extent) but they should not have rights, but it seems many on youtube think they should have rights.

A man of kindness, to his beast is kind.
But, brutal actions, show a brutal mind:
Remember, He who made thee, made the brute,
Who gave thee speech and reason, formed him mute;
He can't complain, but God's omniscient eye
Beholds thy cruelty - He hears his cry!
He was designed thy servant; not thy drudge,
But know - That his Creator is thy judge.
Interesting that you offer with snarkiness a rebuttal that says that exact same thing he said.Do a little research. there are laws all over this planet to protect animals.
You are talking about something that is well under control.
Are all of those laws enforced?
You can't stop people from killing other people on this planet, get a grip.
Anytime animal rights interfere with my right to enjoy a nice rib-eye, that's where I draw the line.
I don't care how they treated the cow before I ate it, I care about the quality and price of the meat.Animals are property. They have no rights.
If you care about such things, you along with others provide a market force for a more expensive but friendlier slaughterhouse - whatever that may mean, given the end result.
It's not a concern for law, though - as previously mentioned, animals have no rights.
Get caught by the law mistreating animals and you'll get a lesson on that.
I'm a vegan and I don't think animals should have rights. Animals don't want rights. The concept of rights is a human construct. I am all for animal welfare laws and laws against animal cruelty.
But to me with rights come responsibility and accountability. And you can't hold an animal responsible or accountable for their actions. A dog may know he will get punished if he pees inside but he doesn't know why he should be punished for it.
I might be willing to make an exception for a handful of species among the apes and cetacea who may demonstrate a higher level of understanding. But even then the rights I think they should be granted are dwarved by the number of rights I think humans should have. The right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? Sure, why not? The right to an education or healthcare? That is ridiculous.
Your thinking sounds very reminiscent of the argument used to justify human slavery.
