Why stop there? What about Native Americans that owned black slaves and denied slaves rights after emancipation? And they owned slaves from other tribes long before Europeans showed up. The Cherokee, Choctaw and Seminole were guilty of this.

These monuments were built in "honor" of traitors to and enemies of the United States decades after the war. The confederacy attempted to destroy the United States of America. We should not honor those that would have seen our nation extinguished.

To conflate those that attempted to destroy the US with the general population is stupid, pathetic and racist.
