Should we wait for it to get to the same level of occurrence before we recognize it as a problem?
You seem to suggest that fewers guns is the magic pill.
Maybe there aren't enough good guys, with guns.
Cops--the good guys--show up with a gun; sometimes, two guns. The attacks typically end when, or shortly after, the cops show up.
Not my impression at all.
Most are finished before the cops even arrive.
Not their fault as they can't be everywhere.
The BN forum rules allow you to wait up to 48 hours before making your thread. You made a thread without first knowing all the facts, which is fine if you want off-the-hip commentary, but it doesn't serve discussions of substance.
I'm not accusing you of political agenda. You started a thread on a story we know very little about, and then regret that people aren't waiting until we know more. Well, Higgins, you didn't wait either. We all just jumped in, you, me, everyone. Non of us have very much information so there's nothing to post but random commentary.
If you wanted to start a real discussion on this incident in the BN forum, you should have waited until this evening or tomorrow when more information will be available.
That's what happens when you just want to be the first to make a thread on something.
It was a misunderstanding. We've moved on :2wave:Seriously? I mean in the op she drew no conclusions!
Regular people can't carry handguns in Maryland at all.
It was a misunderstanding. We've moved on :2wave:
From your link:I see. These shootings only happen in states with tight gun controls.
Except wait, you can carry handguns in Maryland.
Maryland is a "may-issue" state, meaning you have to have a "good and substantial reason" in order to be issued a permit to carry. "Good and substantial reasons" include police-documented death threats (and the permit is revoked when you can't re-prove ongoing threats), or employment in an armed capacity such as a armored-car service (and your permit only allows you to carry while on the job). If a Maryland citizen can't document a "good and substantial reason", they can't carry a handgun.Carrying a handgun, whether openly or concealed, is prohibited unless one has a permit to carry a handgun or is on their own property or their own place of business. The Maryland State Police may issue a permit to carry a handgun at their discretion and based on an investigation.[2][3] On March 5, 2012, a federal judge ruled in Woollard v Sheridan that Maryland's "may issue" concealed carry law is unconstitutional, writing, "A citizen may not be required to offer a 'good and substantial reason' why he should be permitted to exercise his rights." The Maryland Attorney General's office appealed the ruling.[9] On March 21, 2013, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals (U.S. Federal) unanimously overturned the District Court ruling, holding that the "good & substantial cause" requirements imposed by Maryland law are permissible infringements on the 2nd Amendment.[10]

As I said, your regular Joe cannot carry a handgun in Maryland.
Those are all "shall-issue" states and your regular average Joe can carry there. How about North Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Arizona and Texas?
A quick google search shows plenty of media attention, nationally, on shootings in Chicago involving minorities.
What a complete non-sequitur: How is me responding to the mung-headed idea that mass public shooting occur at anything close to the rate of inner city violence an endorsement "not to do anything"?
Think before you write, Phil.
MSNBC reports black on black gang crime? In their precious Chicago, AKA "gun free zone"?
So the short answer to my question is "no".
No, the answer was that short of partisan stupidity, there wasn't even a basis for your original accusation.
Yes. They do. But we weren't talking about MSNBC only. His word was "media". I took it to mean national media.
Oh they all suck. Faux, MSNBC, CNN, all of them. Useless glorified tabloids IMO.
The only detail I learned about the shooting today is it was a shotgun.

Purchased in December.
Christ Mass gift.
Yep. Hillary Clinton said you have to go to international news agencies to get real news.
