Server Update on Saturday, Jan 6

Today Jan 1, 2024 (wow that seems weird to type), we had planned to do a full software and server update.
But, at the last minute they had to reschedule the server update.

What took so long today was upgrading our database which was necessary for the server update.
We actually got a few more hamsters, crossed fingers!

With that, we are now (y) for the migration to the new server software.

We have scheduled the new downtime, which should take less than 3 hours, on Saturday, Jan 6 at 8am CST.

Can someone provide the “Idiot’s Guide“ to what all this means and also the condensed version, TIA.

Official Operating System software support is ending. We need to migrate to new server software to continue getting latest security updates.

In this case, we are actually running CentOS and migrating to Alama Linux.
Many have never heard of either so think of it like going from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Hope this helps.

Some requirements must be met before we can migrate. That happened today.
