Sen. Lindsey Graham said if Trump is prosecuted for mishandling classified information 'there will be riots in the streets'

Graham threatened Garland?
Yup - with riots in the streets if the DOJ prosecutes DJT.

A senator with any proper mind when making a public statement on the subject of DJT's mishandling of classified docs should back the DOJ's job of its investigation and possible prosecution of said alleged violator and encourage no riots in the streets if AG Garland does his job thoroughly.

He’s predicting what will happen. How is that inciting violence?
Really? OMG what an evil post. Telling lemmings what to do is INCITEMENT. Someone else posted that the people who would riot are the same ones that attacked the Capitol on Jan 6th...are you going to defend them some too?

They absolutely want to investigate AG Garland and if they retake the House, that's exactly what they will do, as well as FBI Director Chris Wray. They'll do it because it works. We can call them sham investigations, which they are, but unfortunately, there are a lot of ignorant voters out there in the so-called moderate center.

The goal of these sham investigations like Benghazi and Fast & Furious is not necessarily to convince Americans that these investigations have merit. The aim isn't to persuade. Rather, it's to destroy confidence in the system and its institutions, so that ultimately, people don't know what to believe anymore. That's actually as much what kills functioning democracy as anything: people begin to think that the whole system is hopelessly corrupt, that their votes mean nothing, that the system can't be changed, that "the truth" can't ever really be known because everyone has an agenda (aka "both sides-ism"). So then, why bother voting? But rest assured, the faithful on the right will vote, and they will legislate to make sure it's harder for non-conservatives to vote for their candidates.
Damn straight. Particularly them thar minorities.

Well, given the Democrats, the FBI's and the DOJ's 6 years of jihad against Trump, it hard to view this latest unprecedented raid by dozens of armed FBI agents on the private home of a former President, the primary political opponent of the current President, over documents the former President has had for 18 months, in a secure location, guarded by the secret service 24/7, as anything but political.

You Trumpers make the predictably cultish error of acting like Trump is running for office in 2022. If you have hitched your wagons to him, that's your problem. You guys seem to expect the entire world to look out for your fee fees.

There will be riots in the streets when Trump loses again in 2024 so why wait?

There is no doubt that the GOP will regain the House and will go ape sh!t crazy with investigations. There is also no doubt that the RW media will amplify it. There is no doubt that Trump will be in victim overdrive. There is also no doubt in my mind the majority of Americans will say they are fed up with this BS in 2024 and reinstate the Dems.....so go for it Republicans

It's nice to see that you still don't know what the **** you are talking about.
You're the one who consistently sides with Trump and believes his lies as if they were the truth. That, is quite an accomplishment and something that is as shameful as it gets or are you suggesting that you're not smart enough to know when Trump is lying?

I’m not defending anyone. Where did Graham tell anyone what to do?

Right, let them. Who gives a s***? It's what they always do, and it's what they are going to do anyway.

So you just can't, for the life of you, figure out why his comments were in poor taste.

I don't think this is a problem that a message board can solve.

This is a test of our democracy. Graham is saying Trump is above our democracy of law. He is inciting riot against democracy that Rep/cons have been attacking all along. Democracy was last similarly tested, and the system failed, when Ford pardoned Nixon for any crimes he may have committed.

Why wasn’t the system tested more recently, when Hilary skated after committing a crime? Do you sincerely believe that an alleged lack of harmful intent means she should suffer only public embarrassment?

That was explained in detail, very publicly, by the head of that investigation. You should probably go reread his comments.

Whether or not they were in poor taste is irrelevant. People keep claiming it’s incitement, or telling people what to do, etc., etc.

I get the instant agitation that such news stirs up with any political party opposition, but two major details of importance occurred with this investigation and legal search. One, a former pres physically removed many White House documents that breaks the law. Two, such classified docs were taken to a public club many states away. There hasn't been any other situation like this in our history of modern day presidents. This is uncharted territory that must be further investigated and prosecuted is warranted.

Sen Graham should stfu unless he's opening his mouth to support law and order when referring to this particular matter. imo

I must have missed the trial finding that he broke the law. Do you have a link?

Yup. As I said, this raid on the home of a former President is unprecedented in the history of our nation. Which, given the history of the FBI/DOJ and President Trump, has most rational people, those whose judgement is not clouded by hate of the former President, questioning whether it's 100% political

Just shut up and submit huh? Don't think so.

It cost her the election as well

As if that matters to you. We will just then hear about how al of the judges and lawyers and jurors are Trump haters who broke their oaths.

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham said Sunday there will be riots if former President Donald Trump is prosecuted over his handling of classified materials.

"Most Republicans including me, believe when it comes to Trump, there is no law. It's all about getting him," Graham said, adding: "And I'll say this, if there is a prosecution of Donald Trump for mishandling classified information after the Clinton debacle… there will be riots in the streets."

In July 2016, an FBI investigation found there was "evidence of potential" criminal violations concerning the handling of classified information but that there wasn't sufficient reason to bring charges. A years-long State Department investigation that ended in 2019 found Clinton's use of a private email server put classified information at risk but that there was "no persuasive evidence of systemic, deliberate mishandling of classified information."

Nice of senator Graham to further rile up Trumps base. I would think it should be the senator's duty to calm the waters, not incite violence.
"We had to destroy the country to save it."?

No, it’s not a veiled threat. I know it’s popular with some posters to pretend that it is, but it really isn’t.

No, I don’t support violent rhetoric, and a prediction doesn’t even come close to being violent rhetoric.
I disagree. The way he presented it was a bit of a veiled threat. He had quite a vocabulary at this disposal that he chose not to take advantage.

If he was taking a cautionary tone with this he would have couched the statement with words such as "....given the political climate today, I am concerned that X might happen ..." and he then could have stated that it would be the wrong approach for people. Instead, he boldly asserted that this would happen. He took a full throated endorsement of this as an expression of power. His words were not the words of a leader, they were the words of a thug.

Common sense dictates that he's violated 18 U.S. Code § 1924, which addresses 'unauthorized removal and retention of classified documents or material'. Since he's not yet been prosecuted, no trial has yet taken place.

So when you are throwing around words like "unauthorized" "breaks the law," you're just barking out your ass, right? You have no idea what the contents of these documents are.
