Federal prosecutors have announced additional charges against New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez and his wife, alleging they conspired to have a public official act as a foreign agent.

A superseding indictment was filed Thursday.

Menendez and his wife, Nadine Arslanian Menendez, were indicted last month on corruption-related offenses, and are accused of accepting “hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes” in exchange for the senator’s influence.

I heard an interesting take on POTUS about that. Apparently not stepping down is his best leverage to stay out of prison. He can trade stepping down for a lighter sentence or some other lesser charges.
 
If he won’t leave in disgrace, he needs to be kicked out in disgrace.
 
Wonder if Schumer will join the majority of the Dem Senators now.

No, he can't. He doesn't get any sort of immunity as a member of Congress. Prosecutors can drag his mendacious posterior into court before his term ends.

Devolder doesn't have any cards to play, except to plead guilty. If he doesn't realize that, then he's engaging in epic levels of denial.

It was not immunity this person was talking about. It was a negotiation of stepping down for a reduced sentence.

It’s a little more than alleged. Being charged means there’s evidence. Whether that is beyond reasonable doubt is up to a jury.

A jury does not confirm innocence. It judges the level of guilt.

Are there any Republicans condemning Menendez? I've heard plenty Dems doing so.
