Imagine if supporters of Obama and Hillary instigated a riot at the Capitol in order to delay the formalization of Trump's election? Would you still be saying NBD?Get over it already. Y'all are worse than pizzagaters at this point.
I'm not a Trump supporter. I'm just not an obsessed idiot.Imagine if supporters of Obama and Hillary instigated a riot at the Capitol in order to delay the formalization of Trump's election? Would you still be saying NBD?
Indeed! If you ignore everything Trump and his henchmen did or attempted to do , as you have here, everything's fine.
But then, why the late hour?
So, if an organized riot intended to stall the certification of a Presidential election is NBD to you, what kinds of attacks on our election process would cause you to be concerned?I'm not a Trump supporter. I'm just not an obsessed idiot.
Things that actually pose a threat concern me. I think obsessed Democrats only care about whatever damage they can cause to the right over it. It was never deeper than that. Empty partisan outrage as usual. So, if an organized riot intended to stall the certification of a Presidential election is NBD to you, what kinds of attacks on our election process would cause you to be concerned?
That's not what is being discussed in this thread. The thread is about the losing party trying secretly to coordinate a delay in the formalization of the election.Progressives have to make up their mind about all this:
Either Congress HAS the authority to "overturn" an election -- in which case alleged efforts to do so are perfectly legal and in which objections to it are nothing more than politics.
Or Congress does NOT have the authority to "overturn" an election-- in which case their objections are nothing more than politics.
Be specific about what threats to our election process would concern you.Things that actually pose a threat concern me. I think obsessed Democrats only care about whatever damage they can cause to the right over it. It was never deeper than that. Empty partisan outrage as usual.

I don't have a specific example. January 6th was never a real threat. Partisan left wingers just want to use it as a weapon and don't know when to let go.Be specific about what threats to our election process would concern you.
If Congress isn't actually able to meet, what they can or can not do is moot. That's the point.Either Congress has the right to do this, or they don't.
Its a fair question to ask.
Otherwise, all the hysteria on the issue is nothing more than politics.

you would replace "obsessed" with what word?I'm not a Trump supporter. I'm just not an obsessed idiot.
Nice try at deflection. When does a president elect LEGALLY become the president-elect?
When the networks call a winner? When one candidate concedes? When the electoral college votes? When Congress counts those electoral college votes?
If there is going to be hysteria about all this, its a question that needs to be answered.
Nice try at deflection.
The point is that the GOP appears to have coordinated a riot at the Capitol intended to delay the election certification process. What were their plans if the delay was successful? That's the question that needs to be anwered.
If you know any specific threats let them know. I think it sounds like they're doing what they can recognizing the issue and acting to remove agents. Which of course Republicans would attack as partisan to not allow trump loyalists whose loyalty to Biden is in question.Needs doing a couple more times.
I'm sure the sock puppet problem isn't limited to DebatePolitics....you never know when your SS detail might contain a few more
undercover POES and SOCKS who came in looking all polished and clean.
Get over investigating the trump coup attempt? That comment would make you resemble pizzagate supporters, not the people investigating trump.Get over it already. Y'all are worse than pizzagaters at this point.
The point is that appears that the GOP THOUGHT they could put a wrench in the election process with their riot plan. If they absolutely knew they would be unsuccessful, why would they even bother? (Rhetorical question)It isn't a deflection at all.
It goes to the heart of the argument-- if Congress has the right to "delay the certification process" then clearly the GOP in Congress would have the right to "delay the certification process."
If they don't, it doesn't matter-- Biden was going to be president regardless what happened.

We *know* the trump team had coordinated enough 'alternate elector slates' saying he had won in enough states to change the election, and that a large majority of Republicans in Congress were willing to vote to overturn the election (they DID vote for that), and that they were trying to use the constitutional provision that would move the election to the House where each state would get one vote, where Republicans had a majority.
Haven't figured that Democrats can't help but overplay their hand? Russia Russia Russia didn't give you a clue?I wish Raskin would tone the “tear the roof off” rhetoric down a notch.
Jan. 6 revelations will 'blow the roof off the House,' Rep. Jamie Raskin says
The Jan. 6 committee plans to hold hearings in June and aims to have a report out about their investigation by the end of the summer or early fall, Raskin said.www.nbcnews.com
There was no riot plan.
Congress already said that when they impeached Trump for "incitement" of a riot.
As for the rest, the argument by Trump seems to have been that somehow the electors could be kicked back to the states for reconsideration, or that the electors could be summarily thrown out by Pence to reduce the number needed for a majority in the electoral college.
Were they correct?

If the GOP and Trump coordinated a riot then why did Trump offer, before January 6, the National Guard to Nancy Pelosi and the DC black female mayor for security purposes in which they turned him down?Nice try at deflection.
