SECOND Dallas Hospital Worker Tests Positive for Ebola

That makes sense until you realize that the flu mostly kills the elderly and unhealthy. The flu doesn't kill 50 to 90 percent of its victims regardless of their age or fitness like Ebola does.

Right and Obama said it was highly unlikely that ebola would come here, too.

Whatever Liberals say, you can bet the opposite is reality. Hell, it turns out there were WMD in Iraq, afterall...lol!

Sure their were. Whatever you say. I 'll take your word for it.

Greetings, MMC. :2wave:

I think Freiden may be getting a bit of a bad rap here. He reports to Obama, who appointed him to the job he holds. When Obama is saying one thing, is it unusual that his underlings carry the same message? To do otherwise could be calling your boss a liar, and no employee with any sense does that, especially if your boss is the POTUS! It's called being a team player.

I don't understand why Obama has taken the stand on Ebola that he has, knowing that people are dying in West Africa from Ebola, but Frieden is a doctor, and Obama is not - Frieden should be making the decisions on Ebola, not Obama!. As more and more mistakes come to light on how this is being handled, stories out of DC are changing, and that makes people uneasy. If Friedman is inept, replace him, but don't blame him if his hands are tied because of politics! Just saying.....

This is what happens when left wing ideologues are put into positions of power-both in the white house and the CDC.

And this is how a right wing partisan hack jumps on the lets blame the left for everything wagon.

Well that happens no matter what party....

Why is the CDC concerned about the other folks on the Frontier flight.........it can't be transmitted as an airborn illness.....right?

Close contact and one day from showing symptoms for a start. Doesn't have to be airborn.

From Post 101.....They even allowed these Nurses to go and treat others. Knowing Protocols were not in place.

Deborah Burger of National Nurses United, who convened a conference call with reporters to relay what she said were concerns of nurses at the hospital, said they were forced to use medical tape to secure openings in their flimsy garments and worried that their necks and heads were exposed as they cared for Duncan. RoseAnn DeMoro, executive director of Nurses United, said the statement came from "several" and "a few" nurses, but she refused repeated inquiries to state how many. She said the organization had vetted the claims, and that the nurses cited were in a position to know what had occurred at the hospital. She did not specify whether they were among the nurses caring for Duncan.

The nurses allege that his lab samples were allowed to travel through the hospital's pneumatic tubes, possibly risking contaminating of the specimen-delivery system. They also said that hazardous waste was allowed to pile up to the ceiling. The nurses' statement said they had to "interact with Mr. Duncan with whatever protective equipment was available," even as he produced "a lot of contagious fluids." Duncan's medical records underscore that concern. They also say nurses treating Duncan were also caring for other patients in the hospital and that, in the face of constantly shifting guidelines, they were allowed to follow whichever ones they chose. When Ebola was suspected but unconfirmed, a doctor wrote that use of disposable shoe covers should also be considered. At that point, by all protocols, shoe covers should have been mandatory to prevent anyone from tracking contagious body fluids around the hospital.....snip~

So you will continue to dismiss it as "nothing to see here" until it becomes something to see, then I suspect you'll be nowhere in those threads to answer for your statements.

All travel in and out of Texas should be suspended: if Africa won't do it WE can.

I not only saw the link posted here but responded to it it.

Do you realize how absurd your argument is? We were told that we had to invade Iraq because Saddam had wmds. Could result in a big atomic mushroom cloud I seem to remember Dick Cheney saying. But the truth is there was no nuclear threat and the irony is our troops wouldn't have been exposed to the degraded chemical munitions if they hadn't been there.

Damn, it keeps getting worse and worse as more facts come out!

I disagree Lady P.....he is the Head of the CDC. He should have been on top of things from the get go. Starting with sending a Team to Dallas ASAP. Issuning no travel protocols to those working with anyone infected until they cleared.

The fact is that this nurse called the CDC before she boarded the flight, and someone told her she wss clear to fly.

Does that sound prudent to you?

We can suspend travel from west Africa to here and further we can suspend travel domestically for those who hsve treated known cases of Ebola here until those individuals are cleared.

This thing is spreading easier than what they claim. And all this crap about how much better our quarantine protocols are than Africa's and higher standard of care is nonsense on those levels. The reason being that once something like this really hits the wild, it spreads faster and faster over running the system. Hospitals don't have the extra capacity to handle thousands of people with a virulent virus epidemic. They wouldn't have enough hazmat suits or facility of care, with much of the staff's getting sick.

They need to stop the arrogant nonchalant attitude and telling people stupid stats about how more people die from different ways, and get this under control now with maximum effort. I've been saying this from the beginning, because I know what this will do to the social climate and disruption of everyday life and economic system if it gets out of control.

And this is how a right wing partisan hack jumps on the lets blame the left for everything wagon.

Ebola isn't the only case of a left wing administration failing to protect the American people from disease. Enterovirus D68 has killed dozens of American children and Obama remains silent about why this is happening now. Many experts feel that D68 is a result of the border children who surged across the border this year, and in fact the virus is heavily found in Honduras and Guatamala.

D68 has killed American children and left others permanently paralyzed... it's clear that the left will do nothing to EVER protect the American people, including small children, from the threat of foreign illnesses.

More here Grip.

No. Of course, I also don't think she should even have considered traveling with even a mild fever. Whomever cleared her to travel made a bad decision. Her choosing to travel while having become symptomatic was also a bad judgment on her part.

And could in the end cost someone their life. Why wouldn't we do all we can to prevent that, including measures like restricting travel?

There do seem to be conflicts in determining what should have been done that wasn't - protocol-wise - and I do question why. However, the nurses that are speaking out have said there weren't any protocol guidelines issued. If that is true, it's a serious accusation. Then we read that there is a shortage of the correct safety apparel to be worn by nurses when dealing with a killer like Ebola, and that is also serious. Then we read that someone at the CDC okayed Vinson to fly to Cleveland even though she had a temperature, and that's serious. All of these things point back to Friedman at the CDC.

My question is why these occurred. Was the CDC simply following Obama's lead in not treating this as seriously as it should have been? Obama himself just yesterday cancelled a fundraising trip, and we know how he enjoys those, so why did he cancel? Prior to this, we were being told that everything was under control, but now it appears that it isn't! It was serious enough that we sent military healthcare personnel to West Africa a few weeks ago - what changed the thinking? Something is not right here when the WHO, whose job it is to track epidemics, has repeatedly warned about a possible worldwide outbreak of Ebola if it isn't quarantined at the source! Why were those warnings not heeded by those in DC that have the responsibility to keep us as safe as possible?

Well as soon as people started to panic.....The First private Citizen to throw money in was a lefty. Mark Zuckerberg donated 25 mil and he wanted it for Medical equipment and resources for those at the source of the infected Countries.

Have to give him credit for that.....Just sayin!

Heya Lady P :2wave: .....truthfully he had no choice. When the CDC Director is saying he is hearing from Hospitals and medical people all across the country that they are not prepared nor trained. Especially after the CDC asked people to call them that were on that flight with Vinson. As the CDC could have used the manifest and got to all of those people.....johnny on the spot. Then BO has to show some leadership. Like you said.....its his Team.

Why don't you list how many people died from AIDS from about 1985 - 1987 and that is about where we are now with this one.

No medicine to treat it and if an epidemic breaks out, a lot of people are going to die.

Compare apples to apples if you are going to make a comparison.
