Sean Spicer Loses It before Press Corps

The reporter apologized and it was accepted. So why come out and go on a tirade about that and then the crowd numbers? If you saw any of the inauguration it was as plain as the nose on your face. That aside is this really important to the country? I think not.

My interpretation is that these comparison photos are subtle ways of implying that Trump is unpopular. In the grand scheme of things, no it does not matter; however, given that the media does this day in and day out, these types of memetic attacks can have a cumulative effect.

Spicer has 0 credibility as evidenced today.

He has more than the MSM. I think it would be prudent for the Libbo media to fix their reputation, if they ever hope to get another Libbo in the White House, or anywhere else, for that matter. But, if they choose to do business as usual, that's fine by me.

If Goebbels is looking for a fight then I am absolutely confident the media will tear him to pieces.

Yeah? What about the last year or so gives you that impression?

The Trump Administration lies. They get away with it because their opposition in the media also lie.

Spicer is going to be a nice punching bag for the media for the next four years and he's already making it so easy. His very first press conference was a pack of lies and he's being eviscerated for it.

The MSM has record low credibility. I'm sure that doubling down on their current MO would be a bad idea.

That.

There could be, or there could not be. From just a picture posted on the Internet, I'd content that it's hard to tell. There's is also the timing of the picture in relation to when the oath was taken, at which time you'd assume that everyone that wanted to be on the mall would be there.

Lastly, statement of fact: No official numbers have been released as to attendance.

The greater point also being why cover something as pedestrian as crowd size when the more important issue at hand is the delay of the confirmation of Director CIA, which could very well be a national security issue, which is important.
I watched the dang thing and it looked pretty full to me. I remembered hearing an hour before the ceremony was to begin that there were people still pouring in because they were being held up getting through security. I guess this is the first year they did not allow people to just walk out onto the mall. Now the MSM has wrote and reported extensively on size of crowds between Obama and Trump, but I think Spicer needs to pick his battles with the MSM more carefully. Having said that, the first one to criticize Spicer was Brian Fallon. Fallon was the character that was speculated would be Clinton's press secretary.

"Sean Spicer lacks the guts or integrity to refuse orders to go out and lie. He is a failure in this job on his first full day.
— Brian Fallon (@brianefallon) January 21, 2017"

The report that Trump had removed the bust of MLK by some reporter is something that needed to be called out because it was reckless. No bust was removed, but one added and that was the bust of Churchhill that Obama had removed.
The coverage of Trump at the CIA where he received a standing ovation for five minutes but wasn't reported on yet the comments of the ex-CIA director Brennan who is an Obama political plant trashing Trump's visit as being grandiose and shameful is getting covered. Personally, it is my opinion this country is in better shape with that man gone. He an Clapper well lets just say these guys polticized our intelligence agencies.
The coverage of Trump's speech by some in the media was compared to Hitler.
Those in the media made fun and smeared his 10 year old son Barron on twitter. And they want to talk about Trump's tweets? How about holding their own to the same standards.

I wasn't a fan of Trump and there are plenty of my posts on this forum to verify that one. But I have lived through enough elections to know for a fact, when a Republican wins, the media is not happy. When JFK won, it was Camelot. When Reagan won the media was ruthless. Reagan won with such a landslide thanks in part to Democrats and when that happens then the left feels threatened. Same thing happened with Trump. He too had a number of Democrats vote for him especially in key states that Clinton was expected to win.

Not all Democrats are pro-choice and believe abortion on demand. There are a good number of Democrats who believe in a strong defense. There are a good number of Democrats fed up with the attacks on their religious freedoms. There are a good number of Democrats fed up with the government not enforcing our immigration laws and there are a good number of Democrats who are fed up with the massive amounts of regulations pouring out of the EPA that are killing their jobs opportunities. There are a number of Democrats who are tired of the federal government over-reaching into their state/local governments. Their Democratic party has been run by the far left the last 8 years only focusing on special interests and they didn't speak for them.

Exactly. Hence my earlier post about a new sheriff in town.

The media certainly isn't lying about this and the Trump Administration isn't getting away with their lies. Spicer is going down in flames on his first day.

Eh. When it comes to dishonesty, I don't see a terrible amount of difference, except that perhaps this one is more bold in the little things.

 sure. But the media has lied about plenty of other things, and so yes the Trump Administration is going to get away with it. Because the media calling Trump a liar is the pot calling the kettle black. Spicer didn't go down in flames today, he just treated the media like the media treat Republicans.

First time out he's laid down a marker, much as Trump does. Not necessarily a bad thing to do. Pretty clear that this White House is going to strongly object and call out individuals if and when they feel they aren't getting the news coverage they think is fair.

In all of this, its too bad that the more important point, the Democrats dragging their feet in confirming Director of CIA, a national security position with national security implications. That which should have made it into the media, but didn't (of course not).

The report that Trump had removed the bust of MLK by some reporter is something that needed to be called out because it was reckless. No bust was removed, but one added and that was the bust of Churchhill that Obama had removed.

Hear! Hear!

If this is a sign of things to come we are going to have some pretty entertaining press conferences. I hope Trump uses this tool bag for all of his grievances. Pretty soon Spicer will be yelling about how big Trump's hands are and how all of the women love him.

The biggest hands in HISTORY!

You beat me to it. The media are a bunch of trolls.

Is it more legitimate for news outlets to discuss crowd sizes or to have the White House press secretary complain about them covering it, and also lie about it?

He is unpopular which is why he can't stop talking and lying about it. If he stops, the media will stop.

That is now how it works with Trump.

The one doing wrong stops first.

In this case MSM.

I'm not sure about that. There has been multiple times that Trump did something nice and still the media found some way to bash him, e.g. Trump brought toys after the LA flood, and was mocked for giving Playdoh.

Trump has more likes on his FB cover photo than people attending the women's march today, so he can't be all that unpopular ;)

All of those Obama supporters in 2009 really dont mean much when you consider that in 2017 the Democratic party is a shell of what it use to be

Obama said his legacy and agenda was on the ballot and Trump picked up 30 States to Hillary's 20

Also, the GOP now controls 67 of 98 State partisan legislators.

If living 8 years in the past is some consolation for you then so be it, but I personally think its a bit pathetic.

I'm not an Obama lover per se, but every day Obama was in office he was called everything but a white man (no pun intended - he is half white). He was called N****, a Kenyan, a non-citizen, cartoons showing him to look like an ape. He was called an ape. Michelle was called an ape.

It is a fact that poor Trump didn't get the crowd that Obama did at either inauguration. He didn't get the crowd that Reagan got in 1981. SO ****ING WHAT? I'll tell you why this is pathetic. Crybaby Trump had to make it into an issue. He WON! What more needs to be said. He got to make his doom and gloom speech following being sworn in. Okay, for the upteenth time, we've heard that speech while he was campaigning. And I still don't have a clue what he's talking about. His speeches are so abstract that nobody knows what the hell he's saying.

How he dealt with it was absolutely infantile. Do you, or do you not acknowledge that it is Trump, who is uncontrollably disturbed by this issue, and so much so that he used his trip to the CIA to vent his hurt feelings?

Trump has sued a lot of people who claimed his network is less than he claims. He's egocentric and that's being nice.

If the Democrat party dies tomorrow, so be it. It's their own fault.

But the shell of a party remark was frequently said about the Republicans for the past several years. Now Trump unexpectedly wins so all of a sudden the Republicans are hot stuff. NO, they're not. They're pretty damn divided themselves about a lot of issues related to Trump. And Trump will frequently remind them that they aren't ****, he's the man and they better not forget it. Do you remember what happened when Obama told the Republican leadership during a meeting a few days after he took office that it wasn't going to be like they wanted things, that he won! From that moment on the obstruction game was on.

Trump won, not the Republicans. I don't care how many seats they hold...Trump won, period. Henceforth every media story he dislikes will be called "Fake News" no matter what he says or does. You owe your soul to Trump as far as he's concerned. He wasn't lying when he said all of the forgotten men and women wouldn't be forgotten anymore. He's going to run their lives for them every single day and anyway he wants, no matter the damage and the Republicans are gonna sit quietly and let him do it. Everybody will live with whatever he claims to be the truth or reality. So get use to it. He is your president.

The WH press secretary made a demonstrably false claim today on behalf of his master. You seem to find that acceptable.

Of course not, that would be poor job performance.

I figure there is going to be a learning curve.

I will give them time to figure this all out.

Not a lot, but reasonable people must.

YOU KNOW?

Trump is just letting the media know that their constant sniping, spinning and lying will not be tolerated.

The media doesn't like that, but they really have only two choices...and both choices have consequences:

1. They can continue their actions and continue to get spanked by the Trump administration.

2. They can change their ways...try to regain their journalistic ethics and honor...and suffer the wrath of the liberal masses.

From their point of view, either choice sucks. I have no sympathy for them, though...they brought it upon themselves.

How long does it take to work out that you are lying to the world? And they can see that for themselves? It wasn't accidental, he came out and knowingly lied to the press and the nation as the cameras recorded him, like they did the absence of audience the day before.
How long will it take you to realise the scope and gravity of the crime he committed against America?

I probably didn't read post #40 as it was after your original OP. Usually #1 is after #40. You also included a bunch of other garbage in your post. I addressed it. I will google it.

The only garbage was in your own post trying to attack me. But then - what else is new?

Trump's crowd was significantly smaller than Obama's 2009 crowd. Trump and Spicer lied through their damned teeth, and you can't even be bothered to get basic, easily checkable facts right.

trump-vs-obama-inauguration-1484949150.jpg

There were more people on the Mall for today's Women's March than the inauguration. From a nationally available live feed:

You can see for yourself on the Earthcam's archives:
EarthCam - National Mall Cam

DC's Metro system reported lower ridership for Trump's inauguration than for Obama's and the Women's March:
Women's march brings higher Metro ridership than inauguration | TheHill

Parks Service stopped estimating numbers in 1996. Mostly because of this type of "there's more people than you said!" bull****.

Or, instead of throwing out red herrings, you can recognize that Trump lied, Spicer lied, and you are defending their bald-face lies. Which is really, really sad.

Spicer lied pure and sim, pale. Full day number one. Not a good start and just a tiny bit of what is to come.

God save us.

A nazi comparison. Shocker! :lamo

Are you referring to trump calling his spy agencies nazis?

Do you know how many of those men and women have died in the service of their Nation that trump pissed all over saying his personal Vietnam was sleeping around and not getting STDs ?
