Scoop: Trump's 5-part plan to attack DeSantis

That's exactly why I'm thinking this could become a race to MAGA purity . . .
DeSantis has dug himself deep into the anti-woke ideology. I don't know how that plays out against Trump. It's a narrow exclusionary strategy, and DeSantis hasn't shown he can campaign outside the anti-woke box.

Trump sounds weak. He speaks tomorrow night at CPAC, I believe.

There is nothing in there that will attract new ballots to Trump. It's SOS squared. Same old shit only softer.

What's different is he actually has a plan, with things written down and shit.

Hah! Will it last 5 seconds, with him? It's probably already changed . . .

I think it's interesting one of the points is "Disloyalty to Trump, and another is "Lackey to Paul Ryan". This leads me to believe this might turn into a mud-slinging test of MAGA purity.

Any opinions?
🍿

This gives me hope that the really unfavorable Senate map for D's in 2024 may not be as bad as I feared...

1. Raising the age for SS isn't particularly something that is out from left field. It has come up for decades now, as life-expectancy has gone up.
2. This isn't an effective strategy as it's not going to pull any extra votes as how the voters chose who they, themselves, support is it's own test. So far as likeability...Trump is easily the most disliked person in the runnings while DeSantis is the governor of the 3rd largest state and grew support from across all demographic groups from his first term to second.
3. Is bringing Paul Ryan up relevant in scoring any points these days?
4. Trump has a worse record on the COVID issue, regarding how much things should be locked down and what policies should be followed. DeSantis is among the most anti-heterodox governors out there, so far as his COVID response.
5. The Ukraine is a mixed bag. There are plenty of GOPers who support continuing funding of the war and plenty that don't.

I'm surprised Biden put Medicare/SS front & center in the Republican Party, and Trump is running with it.

It's a turn of events I never expected.

As to Trump's Covid record in relation to DeSantis'? He'll just lie & self-promote as always.

Know what this reminds me of? Some reporter asking Biden what he would do if Russia invaded Poland and Biden saying, in effect, "Why would I tell Russia what I would do?"
Why is Trump telling DeSantis what he will do if DeDantis declares? This comes from anonymous friends and insiders.
It's odd. Hard to figure why it was given to that reporter.

Which is why it's not in Breaking News! ;)

(interesting points of discussion though)

I think DeSantis is making too much noise, too soon. There are daily stories coming out of FL that cast DeSantis in a troubling light.

And last I saw, DeSantis declined to attend.

We'll have to see how long DeSantis can play the dodging game? If Trump goes on the offensive, DeSantis can become injured if he lets Trump define him.

Hey!
One step at a time. He only realized other people have feelings too just last week, so it isn't sitting right with him yet

I'll tell you what amazed me:

That freaking "old man", that we often disparage, has put SS & Medicare front & center in debate within the Republican Party!

How the hell did he manage to do that? Holding his own in the SOTU with them? He drew them in, and they took the bait hook, line, and sinker!

Biden is either more skilled than we give him credit, or he's close friends with Lady Luck . . .

Maga purity...boy does that bring back memories of WW2 Hitler-speak and Goebbels-speak.

Who besides Republicans and Republicans claiming to be independents like trump? He's basically universally despised outside those groups.

??

The point was in reference to DeSantis, Craig234.

I have heard some previews of Trump's address. Sounds like it will be another American Hellscape address. Just gonna's dust off the ole' Inaugural address from 2016 and add a few new bits to it. I bet there will be less banging on DeSantis and more American Hellscape......"its all bad....bigly and only I can fix it".

Weren’t many pedigrees among that lot!

OK, the exchange as I saw it was someone taking issue with trump being likeable (by attacking DeSantis on the issue), and I was saying Republicans do like trump, he has a point about them. So I read your post as saying trump is liked by many more than Republicans. I think you misread my previous post as about DeSantis rather than trump.

DeSantis is acting like he is running while not announcing because he is waiting to see if Trump gets indicted or has a stroke (either works for Li'l Ronny). If neither of these happens, or something else doesn't put Trump out of commission, DeSantis will not run until 2028. DeSantis is scared of a head-to-head matchup with his former hero.

is this something more than tRump's weak assed attempt to scare desantis away from running

there is no 'there' there

a simple rebuttal exists for desantis to every attempt in that sophomoronic playbook

If the bolded will be Trump's M.O., he might be dooming himself from the get-go. I believe the greater holding of American People don't want more of this type of negative pandemonium.

The only major current nationwide serious dark negative, I believe, is inflation. If that drops (2 years is a long time), then I'm not sure what could be a nationwide serious dark negative to prosecute Biden. Yes border problem is there, but I don't see that concern as front & center outside the border states and perhaps some of the Red States.

So, how does Trump prosecute a dark negative campaign nationally? Honestly, I'm not sure he can.
