Scandanavia not such a socialist utopia?

Those are facts like the US is compromised primarily of obese fast food, addicted meth tweakers that all like to have sex with their cousins are facts. What it is is, tabloid stereotype bull**** designed to make you feel better about your country.

Are you an american?

I am, and I love some things about this country. But there are other countries that with high standards of living with great qualities. My Daughter studied abroad in Finland for three years. She may move back in the future and if it wasn't for My job I'd more than likely go along.

The best things about Finland are the puukkos and the winter war. At least they can fight.

Sorry, liberals, Scandinavian countries aren’t utopias | New York Post

Yeah, fits with what I've heard from the BTDT's. Not exactly utopia, for many reasons....

One of the most country’s most widely known quirks is a satirist’s crafting of what’s still known as the Jante Law — the Ten Commandments of Buzzkill. “You shall not believe that you are someone,” goes one. “You shall not believe that you are as good as we are,” is another. Others included “You shall not believe that you are going to amount to anything,” “You shall not believe that you are more important than we are” and “You shall not laugh at us.”

Well, you have to admit, when faced with this sort of feedback, it's pretty tough to be not only successful in life, but also not to get depressed. "The raised nail gets hammered down”.

Well, it must be terrible to live in Denmark and Scandinavia then/satire.

Not sure about Iceland though!

Finland is currently trying to walk the line between the west and Russia, and Im disappointed to see them being so friendly towards Russia. I forgot to mention, they also made fine mosin nagants, quite different from the russian version.

You forgot lazy

But yea, my ancestry is from Norway, it's a shame...

I think it's just because of the history of monarchies in Europe that has led to socialism being the natural modern alternative, it's people are used to being governed by elites. It's nice that America had it's history of stark rebellion and individualism against monarchy... it was able to create something new and revolutionary when the monarchs were an ocean away.

New and revolutionary, a first world country that ranks below Third World countries in life expectancy infant mortality and education statistics 'Murica f*** yeah!

The scandinavian nations are like pet bunnies-they are cute to look at but let them go outside into the real world and a coyote or hawk will end them quickly. Putin is currently punking them like its cool with his navy and airforce. Probably the one doing the best is Norway because of its oil revenues.

Never tried Finnish vodka but will try to one day.

I have tasted Finnish vodka, same as every other vodka I've had.
I buy crystal head nowadays but I admit that it's because of the bottle and it's made by Dan Aykroyd. He has a nice wine label as well.
crystal.webp

Silly to focus on the fact that

OP can't even spell Scandinavian , then doubles down and reveals he doesn't know what countries fall under the name's umbrella?

Yeh. Totes McGotes man. Go back to your 1.58% polls

Remarkable, the amount of venom spewed at me over this article.

Yes, I misspelled a word. Oh my gosh, I must be a Neanderthal who never finished elementary school.

Perhaps you should take up with the guy who actually WROTE the article?

With respect, my friend, I see no venom spewed at you personally - in fact, I see no venom at all. What I do see is a number of people questioning an article which rests upon sweeping generalisations, assumptions, and unsubstantiated accusations. At no point does the article attempt to justify its criticisms by means of reliable, peer-reviewed, documented evidence, or indeed - any evidence at all.

I suspect the reason people here are taking it up with you, is the fact that you posted the article, with the ostensible purpose of demonstrating how deficient are the 'socialist' Scandinavian societies.

That people should question an article making unsubstantiated assertions of that nature is hardly surprising. What sort of reaction should a Scandinavian expect on these pages, were he to embark upon a scathing, and largely unproven, critique of America and Americans?

I am still curious as to this poll and it's questions.

1. are you happy with government funded healthcare

2. are you happy with government control of industry

3, are you happy with the "eqalitarian nature" of socialism

4. Do you have sex with sheep?

5. Are you happy with socialism as a philosophy and lifestyle?
