My god. Ever since I left California and became an expat, Ive been to many third world countries, but none of them ever put their entire inventory in lockdown. Could the Golden State be actually worse than entire shithole countries oif the 3rd world?

The last time I walked into a Mcdonald's, I used a kiosk to place an order and pay in advance. It didn't stop me from shopping there. I wonder why Target (and others) took that long to respond this way. PR? Stupidity?

I have some wonderful advice for the righties who are obsessed with making their stupid-ass partisan tit-for-tat threads about poopy needles in SF: do not go to S.F.

It's bizarre and cannot be healthy that you all obsess so very much about local problems that are the business of SF residents, not yourselves.

SF sucks. It’s not a Democrat / liberal thing, it’s SF having crap leadership. The rest of the Bay Area, equally liberal, doesn’t have these problems. San Jose, just 40 miles south and our nation’s 9th largest city, doesn’t have these problems.

I actively avoid having to go to SF.

How would that work? Employees follow customers around opening the panels for them?

Yep, and then take it up to the register for you. Better make the locked items your last stop or expect them to take the items up front while you finish getting your unlocked items. Then you have to head up and get your secured items brought to ring out with the rest. Really convenient!

Have to deal with this shit when I need to get wire at Home Depot or Lowes for work. But don't expect someone to be right there at your call. You'll have to wander around to find someone, and then that person will have to find someone with the code or key. So convenient!!!

Anymore I would about assume just pay more at the electrical supply house than deal with that bullshit. Thanks thieves for making things so easy for me!!!

Yes.

Here in the Los Angeles area, there continue to be a lot of break-in robberies at night.

Many of the culprits are young men who, I am guessing, honed their skills in their countries south of the border and have come here to share their expertise.

Thats completely unworkable. No way that store will be open long.

Alternatively our HEB grocery has a very popular order online and pickup option, where the groceries come out to you prebagged to your car. They could just do that instead.

I first read your first sentence as "poppy noodles" and couldn't figure out why they were so objectionable. Oh boy.

Granted HD and Lowes only has mainly copper wire and select other items under lock down, so no big hurt on them for the few inconvenienced. But I would imagine the place in the OP would do the same procedure, or what's the point.

Every now and then if it's one of the guys who knows me in The Depot(there all the time), they'll just give it to me cause they're tired of dealing with it. But then I usually hear it from check-out, "They just gave that to you?!" "Yep, and you see me here buying it all the time!"
One day talking with them and said they had shortly before watched someone head out of garden area with ~$500 worth of tools. Just had to let them walk...

But yes, if that's how it would go down there, then many would head elsewhere to avoid the inconvenience. Until all stores in the area go to the same model. Then you're stuck thanks to thieves.

Even if you had a cart of stuff, and the employee "felt" you were legit and gave it to you, one could still pocket their take of small items and abandon their cart towards the door. CYA!

Hey! They could set the store up so all locked up items are in aisles you must pass through to checkout with a bunch of employees at the ready for your needs!

Except for the people who just want to get their own stuff and be able to shop as they always have.

Biden's shithole

Right. Say you didn’t even bother to read the article without saying you didn’t read the article.
Why would I have to say I didn't read the article? Remember I don't read.

Clearly. Had you read the article, you’d know you were wrong.

Too hard to admit you’re wrong, though. Easier to remain blissfully unaware of the facts, amirite?

I used to live near that Target. It was always sketchy, but crime in SF has gotten a lot worse in recent years. SF has climbed all the way up to #4 in the country for property crime, according to the latest FBI statistics, which is crazy for a city that's one of the most fabulously wealthy places in the world.

Some of this is because of Chesa Boudin (the former DA) refusing to enforce the law. But SF's insane cost of living (and refusal to do anything about it) has also caused a lot of homeless and desperation.

Counterpoint: Poop, needles, and shoplifting are, in fact, bad for cities. And the policies that fail to prevent them are at the very least worth talking about.

^ Yup, this. SF is certainly not a model of great governance.
