ok people! now's your chance to bitch and moan about the "government" from behind your keyboard.

San Francisco orders '''shelter in place''' to contain coronavirus - Business Insider

  • The San Francisco Bay Area will be directed to "shelter in place" at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday until April 7 in an attempt to contain the coronavirus outbreak.
  • The order will require residents to remain indoors except for essential travel, like going to get groceries.
  • The shelter-in-place order is different from a full lockdown, which would prohibit people from leaving their homes without government permission.

We're in uncharted territory here. I'm wondering whether services like food will hit big problems.

I hope all their dogs are trained to pee and **** on white pads ... I hope everyone with a dog has sufficient pads for 4 weeks ... I hope the dogs like watching Netflix ...

Like the same orders one gives out in a gas attack. This is crazy.

Oh please I'm sure they can take their dog out in the yard.

Could be that dog relief is part of "essential"?
I find this a good move, and hope that every city with a large homeless population follows suit.

What about people without yards? Public dog parks, I guess?

So you don't know how gas attacks work either?

Figures.

Nuclear bomb? Your choice.

Unless you didn't wish to debate, and just offer personal attacks.

My only comment: Is San Francisco's "Poop Patrol" considered "essential personnel" that are exempt from the shelter order?

I saw a picture of a San Francisco supermarket- aisles of toilet paper. Apparently no one uses it there. :)

I must have missed something ... SF didn't care about their homeless in the past and now they're gonna find them a "home" within a few days?!?
In the meantime, they are allowed to "roam free" without any restrictions.

Mayor London Breed's Press Office
@MyrPressOffice

Homeless individuals are not subject to the shelter in place order but are encouraged to seek shelter, and the City will be working with the State, following up on the Governor’s announcement yesterday, to maximize available resources for the homeless population.

Nope. Not that either.

Staying indoors away from other people would not help you a bit in a gas or nuclear attack.

Stupid opening statements do not merit debate.

No one ever said it would help...

Just checked that mayor's twitter page. She gave tweet responses to a lot of questions; basically everything is allowed with regard to free moving around ... as long as you keep a distance of 6' to any other human. (Make sure you cross the road when encountering another dog walker and get yourself one of those grab/claw crutches so you can reach the bag that will be handed to you from the drive-through window. )

When cycling, make sure to have a shopping basket on the handles.

The only ones who did not get a response were people whose moving in/moving out date falls into that period. Too bad ... I hope they have strong muscles.

It's going to be funny watching them try to enforce this...lol

Well that's not shelter in place at all.

How is "sheltering in place" being implemented for the homeless population in SF?
