“Vladimir Putin may be evil. They tell us that he is evil, but is he stupid? He probably isn't stupid, and yet and, here's the strange part, if you are Vladimir Putin, you would have to be a suicidal moron to blow up your own energy pipeline. That's the one thing you would never do.

It is true that blowing up Nord Stream does not help Vladimir Putin. He would not do that. Why would he? “

I don’t get it. What does Tucker Carlson get out of carrying for water for Putin? Do his viewers believe what he says in that regard? Is there an entire subculture of the FOX viewership that have become apologists for Putin, no matter how brutal invasion of and war crimes in Ukraine? No, I don’t get it. What are they gaining?

Tucker - and his fans - hate the republic and want a dictator.

That's all the reason he needs.

I don’t know if they “hate the republic”, per se, but they certainly hate the “democracy” portion of it.

They hate the brown portion of it that’s for sure. Tucker is a contemptible racist.

?? Why would Putin blow up his own pipeline?

?? Why would Putin blow up his own pipeline?

Not sure. But given his propensity to throw live soldiers after dead ones, jabber about nukes, and "annex" land he can't hold, I'm thinking tertiary syphilis.

?? Why would Putin blow up his own pipeline?

Why would he do that? Off the top of my head: to punish the Germans, and make the Germans sue for peace in order that the pipeline can be repaired as soon as possible to allow gas to flow once again. This pipeline was not a pipeline that flows across Europe to countries both friendly and unfriendly to Russia. It flows to a single country. Germany.

If Germany withdraws from the alliance aiding Ukraine, it will cut the legs out from the Ukrainians ability to resist and take the fight to the Russians.

I don't get it. Of all the idiotic things Carlson says, why would you pick one of the few obviously rational things he's said as an example of him "carrying water for Putin"?

He could have the same effect by simply turning it off.

OK. Why couldn't he just shut off the gas rather than blowing up the pipeline? What am I missing here?

If the gas can be easily turned back on but the west will never accept another deal with Putin then it makes a Putin replacement much more likely.

To up the ante, and create division with some sense of plausible deniability.

When the Russians cut it off, it is purely their fault since they are in control. But if they destroy their pipeline and no one comes forward to claim responsibility? They can say their hands are tied.

"Hey, I would love to supply you, but I cannot. One of your "friends" or neighbors seems to have destroyed the pipeline. But if we cooperate with one another, we can bring things back online. Let us come to an understanding, as it were."

Because here is the thing, if the pipeline which is a vital node of Russia's economy was truly destroyed by someone other than Russia, where is their anger? Where is their outrage? It is awfully muted for a country whose civilian infrastructure outside of war zone was supposedly attacked and sabotaged.

You are a good Tucker Carlson parrot.

Answer: wag the dog to take attention away from the twin disasters of his reserve call-up and the defeats of the Russian army in Ukraine. Why have so many Putin oligarchs “slipped” out of windows and fallen to their death recently?

That’s one possibility. With the coming of winter, to get the German people in an uproar as they are freezing without the Nordstrom gas.

I have no idea who is responsible. Russia isn’t hollering very loudly.

Yeah. You would think that Russia would be stomping around with bellicosity saying "Whoever attacked Russia's vital economic interests will be held responsible! This is nothing less than an unprovoked act of aggression against our civilian infrastructure, etc., etc., etc.!"

None of that. Just tedium.

“Rational”. *L*. Well lookie who else is carrying water for Putin! No surprise there!

Huh? Weren't you just arguing that they blew it up to punish the GErmans, make them sue for peace and withdraw their support for the Ukraine? How do they accomplish any of this under you new scenario of "Not us!"

They blew up their own pipeline as a distraction. Really? That's the best you could do?

He could have the same effect by simply turning it off.

Ummm—then he couldn’t blame the West for doing so, could he? And he couldn’t get water carriers like Tucker and yourself defending him, could he? He needs to stir up the everyday Russians to take the heat off of his reserve call-up and the Russian defeats in Ukraine.
