Rush Limbaugh's Latest Whopper

 he later corrected himself and said that the owner had been forced to hire union workers.

non-story.

Did he then bash the owner for neglecting his workers safety conditions as he did to the non-existent union?

No, he was initially incorrect so it's more proof he's just a blowhard that doesn't understand anything. Only fools and morons listen to that drug addled greedy GOP talking point presenter.

(gee, it's so easy to post like a liberal. Just tap into your emotions and feed on the hate. No thought required!)

SO, using your logic someone can lie on a national medium, say he was mistaken and it's not a lie anymore?

Interesting statement. By definition of "lie", wouldn't the person have to knowingly make a false statement with the idea to deceive someone? So for the sake of discussion, if Rush made the statement and knew it was wrong, yep its a lie. If he believed what he was saying was true, then isn't it more that he misspoke?

IMO, holding to your statement, don't the majority of politians lie to us every day. For example, if the President states that the cost of a Program will be X trillion of dollars and it ends up costing more. Did he lie to us? Or is it that he was just optimistic about the outcome?

Rush makes a lot of statements. IMO, he is a political entertainer. His words should be taken with a grain of salt. The good thing is you don't have to listen to him.

I figured this thread would be about his eating habits. I was thinking "the dude likes burgers, so what?"

Rush Limbaugh will go away if we stop talking about him!

Rush's remarks were an assertion and Obama's were an estimate which are often wrong by most politicians.

10-4, buck rogers, not having to listen to him, which I don't because he is incredibly boring to me

Mistake is not the same as a lie..... duh.

Did he then bash the owner for neglecting his workers safety conditions as he did to the non-existent union?

i think he said something about how he wished the environmentalists would allow hill-top mining so that workers wouldn't have to go underground; and he stated something about how the owner was not comparatively out of line compared to other mines - including union mines - in the area.

Example. Some people think they are smarter than the Greatness that is the Good Reverend.....

That's not a lie on thier part, they are simply mistaking.

Oh, brother...:doh Check your ego at the cyber door, Rev.

Here's how I see this particular situation w/Rush...

He comes across as someone who always has his ducks in a row. So, whenever he speaks on an issue his devoted listeners take his word for the gospel. IMO, he has a moral responsibility to be accurate in his statements. In this case, he was wrong.

Now, did he knowingly slant the truth or did he come to his radio show misinformed? Considering how he IS a radio commentator and an entertainer, it's not hard to conclude he mislead purposely until he was called on it and had no choice but to recant. The same could be said about his "I'm leaving the country and goin to Costa Rica" commentary. No, he didn't mean he'd move there, but whoever heard his comment WITHOUT first having listened to the atleast that portion of his broadcast just before he made that statement but especially without him adding that portion to his statement "that he'd go their for medical treatment" would easily conclude that he meant he'd move out of the U.S. and relocate to Costa Rica.

I bring this up to make a point: It's sensationalist broadcasting!

Occasionally, Rush will make a very valid point on any given subject matter, but IMO he tends to stretch the truth to suit his programming agenda rather than just tell it like it is. It's spin until his version of the truth is challenged. And when he's caught with his pants down he has no choice but to come back and essentially apologize, but even when he does he will always try to make it seem as though he did nothing wrong.

Take him for who he is...a spin mister who occassionally speaks the absolute truth. It's show! It's sensationalism for his Republican/Conservative party and personal agenda. I listen occasionally just to hear what the other side is planning....that's it.

You have just defined every elected official in DC. :rofl

:rofl

And there you have it, folks. Do your own homework/research, use your own mind and come to your own conclusions. Otherwise, you become a slave to whatever enters your ear and infects your brain!

It's fine to listen to talk radio or watch/read mainstream media, but in this day and era I find it more enlightening and informative to do your own review of the issues and get the facts for yourself.

Yeah, but it is funny how many high ranking republicans have backed down from him when having an issue with him. Steele comes to mind first, Palin, etc.

There's a couple of reasons for that, IMO.

1) Reps know Rush can be abit over the top in his commentary at times; and,

2) Reps don't want to give Rush any more power within the Republican base than he already has. So, they downplay him even if privately they agree with him.

I agree with a lot of what Rush says. I think he takes hyperbole to an art form, But on many of his core principles, I think he's right on.

Though I am far more libertarian than he.

You got it right.

I just wish everyone that listens to his show realized that it's often him just taking something with a little bit of truth to it to the Nth degree and stretching it to suit his needs.

I figured the same thing, I'm like Burger King has gone the fox news way.
