People that think that guys like Rush or Trump or Bush or Kennedy made it themselves are deluded.

Kennedy earned his chops in WW2. He did awfully damn good with that silver spoon in his mouth.

Kennedy earned his chops in WW2. He did awfully damn good with that silver spoon in his mouth.
I was stretching it trying to find a Democrat so I could maintain independent balance. ... leave me alone.

So there is a GIANT difference between a terrorist like Bin Laden and a dickhead like Rush...And that difference should be noted...A murderous dictator is not the same as a racist radio host...Not even in the same universe...

When it comes to giant dickheads like Limbaugh I totally agree you should critique them...But NEVER dehumanise them...People deserve common humanity and dignity...But they also of course should never be exempt from critque.
So yeah, I guess my point is: Look, of course there is a giant moral difference between a murderous dictator and a racist radio host. I think everybody is happy that Obama took out Bin Laden.

But we should none the less not forget about the humanity and human dignity of people... like Limbaugh who was NOT a terrorist.

I have seen many people react in a horrible, inhumane way to Limbaughs passing and I just don't like this kind of rethoric about how one should celebrate a fellow humans death...(of course I also don't agree with a lot of conservatives who say that after his passing you can't critique him now at all)

Now yes, he was, in my view, a giant bigot but not a mass murderer or stuff like that. He was a very, very flawed character and a big, big bigot. BUT people deserve common decency and humanity but NOT exemption from critique...This idea that because he died he deserves to have his flaws forgotten makes no sense to me what so ever. Harsh critique is always ok if it does not hit below the belt.

Just an appeal to an ideal of a common humanity.

Was he wrong about any of that?

I think it’s interesting that the person who actually called Barack Obama a magic negro was a ... white... guy who works for the LA times but Rush gets the ire.
It is all propaganda. Apparently you did not go to the link and read the paragraph before my quote:
Pressing the Movement Conservative case faced headwinds, however, since the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) enforced a policy that, in the interests of serving the community, required any outlet that held a federal broadcast license to present issues honestly, equitably, and with balance. This “Fairness Doctrine” meant that Movement Conservatives had trouble gaining traction, since voters rejected their ideas when they were stacked up against the ideas of Democrats and traditional Republicans, who agreed that the government had a role to play in the economy (even though they squabbled about the extent of that role).

As proof, Faux Newz won a lawsuit based on the argument that no reasonable person would believe what one of their commentators said.

One of the benefits of this website is that character is revealed. In your case, a lack thereof.

I appreciate that some of his ditto heads demand others respect the man upon his death. I could care less what his mob of listeners cares or thinks. I am thrilled that he is dead, loving every minute of it.

Another thread to bash Limbaugh. The man will continue to live rent free in the heads of snowflakes for decades after he died.
Isn’t it wonderful?

It's OK to be concerned about people who propogate so much hatred, lies, bigotry, fear, rage, and division in a country.
This thread isn’t about Obama... nor Democrats...

BTW... You forgot intolerance... which really came through by Lefties... shining brightly... during the past 5-years.

Many conservatives say that poor people have to "pull themselves up by their own bootstraps."

Did Rush Limbaugh, that paragon of conservative values, pull himself up by his own bootstraps?

Mark your response and click on the spoiler tag below for the answer.

Like many male conservative media figures he made a game of pretending to class sensitivity and implying he’d had to scrap his way up. The radio station where he got his start was co-owned by his father.

Rush Limbaugh’s Complicated Legacy - WSJ

.
The guy was making $18,000 per year at age 32... and was out of radio... the guy did it on his own... went through adversity... built an audience of tens of millions weekly, and kept it at #1 for over 30-years.

Meanwhile... Leftists tried their hand, and failed over and over again. Why? nobody wanted to hear suicide radio. I listened to Air America... for the laughs!!! Y’know, they would have survived had they marketed it correctly/honestly... as a dark humor comedy channel. But, alas... Air America crashed and burned... like everything the Left touches.

built an audience of tens of millions weekly NO denying that
so did Jerry Springer
so did wealth preachers
when you find an audience of fools, milk em for all they got, hell, I would do it to!

ROTFLOL...

None of them will be in the history books... Rush will.

He was a major player in the political landscape. When you have a President (Clinton) a guy with the world’s biggest Bully Pulpit... whining about a guy on the radio... you know that guy is highly effective at what he is doing. He’s was the long lost conscience of the Goebbels Media... coming back to haunt their moral corpse on a daily basis.

You see... he wasn’t milking anything... he was providing something people wanted to listen to, and still would for decades more... because he had substance and often wrapped it up in humor, a story, to make the point memorable.

He was a great teacher, but as the saying goes... the student must be ready for the teacher... most Leftists... they’re simply too closed minded. The Germans have a great line for this... Lernunfähig... meaning... not capable of learning. Would be a good name for the Democrat Partei... Pelosi from the L-Partei (L for both Loser and Lernunfähig).

It's OK to be intolerant of intolerance.

It's OK to be intolerant of intolerance.
Well you’d be a Republican... then... sort of... but... in reality... we’re not intolerant of the intolerant... we pity their closed minds and thick skulls.

Their stunted ability to learn me grow.

It’s as Bill Ivey wrote to John Podesta... in a private email... when they thought nobody would know... claiming their base was “unaware/(ignorant) and compliant”.

Yes... they are correct... but to hit the true trifecta, they should have praised the titanium skulled intolerance of the drones they created.

Limbaugh corrupted the Republican Party, spread hate, racism, and lies, and laid the groundwork for Trumpism. Yes, unfortunately there are lots of people in this country who want to listen to stuff like this. But this is no different that lots of people wanting to watch WWE wrestling or the Jerry Springer show.

What we really need in this country is people saying this kind of stuff so they can be "well informed" and get both sides of the story:

"
  • He began airing “Barack, the Magic Negro,” a racist parody song about then-Sen. Barack Obama’s popularity with many white voters, in 2007.
  • "When a gay person turns his back on you, it is anything but an insult; it's an invitation."
  • In his "Undeniable Truths," written as part of an article for the Sacramento Union in 1988, Limbaugh wrote, "Feminism was established so as to allow unattractive women access to the mainstream of society."

    • In a later updated version, he wrote:
      • "The Earth's eco-system is not fragile."
      • "Women should not be allowed on juries where the accused is a stud."
      • "The Los Angeles riots were not caused by the Rodney King verdict. The Los Angeles riots were caused by rioters."
  • On The Rush Limbaugh Show in 2004, he said, "I think it's time to get rid of this whole National Basketball Association. Call it the TBA, the Thug Basketball Association, and stop calling them teams. Call 'em gangs."
  • As a young broadcaster in the 1970s, Limbaugh once told a Black caller: “Take that bone out of your nose and call me back,”.
  • During The Rush Limbaugh Show in 2013, he said, "If any race of people should not have guilt about slavery, it's Caucasians. The white race has probably had fewer slaves and for a briefer period of time than any other in the history of the world."
  • During The Rush Limbaugh Show in 2017, regarding LGBTQ+ politicians being elected to office, he said, "I guarantee there'd be some people in the Republican establishment who will now think, yeah, we need to do this. We need to provide a home, we need to provide a comforting atmosphere for the tranny community and the gay community. But those people are voting Democrat anyway."
  • " 'Ching cha. Ching chang cho chow. Cha Chow. Ching Cho. Chi ba ba ba. Kwo kwa kwa kee. Cha ga ga. Ching chee chay. Ching zha bo ba. Chang cha. Chang cho chi che. Cha dee. Ooooh chee bada ba. Jee jee cho ba.' Nobody was translating, but that's the closest I can get," he said on his radio show while "translating" Chinese President Hu Jintao in 2011.
  • Limbaugh called Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke a “slut” and a “prostitute” after she publicly advocated for universal contraception coverage."

And people enjoy all this very much, and think it is "humor". That says a lot about them.

some would claim that her rulings on abortion and other issues harmed America far more than Rush did. I won't get into that, I was merely noting I never ever attacked her as a person and I admired lots of things about her. And your claim about "educated black people falsely accused of being AA recipients is an argument that is wanting in merit in many cases.
Abortion has no negative effects on society. If it does, list some.

And btw, altho you didnt say so, she was not one of the justices that decided RvW...which was decided 7-2 by a mostly conservative bench.

So since you're so learned, informed, sophisticated, and open minded with today's conservative mindset, tell us: who really operates that Jewish space laser thingy? Is is Jewbacca or Hannukah Solo? :ROFLMAO:

You are right, he WILL be in the history books, come back in 20 years and let me know what the history books will say about him, it should be fun reading

Limbaugh's dad was part owner of a radio station. LImbaugh's dad got Rush Limbaugh a job working at said radio station. Limbaugh broke into radio the old fashion way: nepotism.
Thats a great argument. Its like saying Eddie Van Halen only got where he did because his dad bought him his first guitar.

Hmmmmm, money/education/connections vs a cheap assed electric guitar. Yep same thing exactly.

So you didn't read (understand, perhaps?) the link I see, poor as it is coming from Wikipedia. Millions upon millions of dollars donated over 30+ years both directly and raised on his program.

Dude, I am not exaggerating a bit when I look at Limbaugh and see his massive generosity. Ignorance is yours in two areas - Limbaugh's generosity and your assertion that I have been drinking to reach my conclusion.

Another conservative myth.
Generosity has not addressed the social problems to the extend that government policies have.

If that had been the case, the US (one of the wealthiest countries full of generous conservatives) would not have a bigger problem of extreme poverty compared to the developed "socialist countries."

Like Hillary lives in yours and she isn't even dead yet?
