Rupert Murdoch's Fox broadcast licences targeted by US ethics group

If the child is already dead then how is this hurting him? Is it a matter of ethics to you........if so then MSNBC has done far worse on many occassions.

But the parents are still alive. The NewsCorp employees hacked into the phone of the missing teenager and then deleted personal messages, this caused the parents to believe their daughter was still alive.

Try to pay attention to the real world.

I don't know, does its owner overlook the hacking of a dead child's phone, and have weekly meetings with your president?

the phone thing I wouldn't put past them, as for meetings with the Prez....I am positive that they probably do.

Fox News will still be on the air in the US. I know the Libbys don't want hear it, but accept it and your blood pressure won't go off the charts when it happens.

Actually there is a bit of doubt about the deleting part. Seems the service maybe auto deletes the oldest messages after a certain number of messages and time. Because of the investigation still going on, then the information on this part is limited.

But that does not change the fact that hacking the messages gave the illusions she was still alive and accessing the messages.

Meanwhile MSNBC is perfectly fine I suppose....

Has anyone in the parent company of MSNBC or at MSNBC been implicated in hacking and illegal wire tapping? While MSNBC may or may not be biased, there is a difference between them and Fox News.. they are not owned by a company involved in criminal actions. But if you know more then do tell..

First of all Murdoch didn't tap one line and was never implicated in approving what one very small part of his media empire was doing. The idea that his entire organization worldwide should be banned or shutdown or that Murdoch himself should step down is ludicrous and entirely political.

"Likewise, the FBI has begun a preliminary probe into a shocking - but unsubstantiated - report in the U.K. media that Murdoch's tabloid reporters sought to hack into the phones of victims of the 9/11 attacks. "

Doesn't this sum up the US "shocking - but unsubstanitate" report?

Ah, again you put words in the mouths of others. Go freaking figure. Nothing of value to see in your posts or the fantasy you live in.

A good bit of leftist dream world fantasy in that post for a 'centrist'.

Bias alert! Bias alert!

As if the left leaning outlets do not lie and knowingly pass on incendiary and inaccurate information. Get a grip.

Yes, although rather dry George Will can be okay. There doesn't seem to be anyone on the left of his caliber. They're all rather hysterical, to one degree or another.

If you witness something by a Fox News commentator which you feel is inaccurate (left or right as they have both) why not submit it here? We often hear complaints by the left over "Fox News" but never any particular commentator. This leads me to believe that they want the entire network shut down, and only for political reasons.

That's the media in the UK. It's all trash over there now, which is why you get so many bizarre opinions coming from that part of the world.

Of course ol' Rupe didn't personally tap into or hack into any one phone line, the man has zero computer capabilities - that's what he pays other people to do. The whole, "I didn't know what my peasants were doing" excuse simply does not fit Mr Murdoch's modus operandi. He is well known for his close attention to spending within his various enterprises, not that he would look at how many pencils and pens, or how many boxes of note pads were being purchased but he would certainly ask about payments of several hundred thousand dollars to detectives, both private and police. I'm sure he had to approve the payments to the former editor who was the first one to be convicted and sent to jail.

for more, here's The Telegraph's Phone hacking timeline that runs from March 2002 to May 3 2012.

Those who support FoxNews and NewsCorp are correct in saying the Murdoch's organisation will not be banned, however the possibility of the Murdoch family losing control of the corporation is I think quite high. Those who have invested in the company, such as Prince al Taleel, do not wish to see their money disappear and probably could join together in ousting Rupert and James if they see that as the best way to preserve their investments.

Why would anyone want to "kill the goose that laid golden egg"? This might make sense to folks that hate Fox/News Corps, but to oust the man behind the curtain is not what investors would call smart.

I dont think people in America understand the situation for Newscorp.

Newscorp owns 39% of BSkyB. BSkyB contributes to a large portion of the over all Newscorp profits. With the "not fit" ruling, Rupert Murdoch risks loosing those 39%.. depending if the regulators pulls the sending license based on the ruling. This will cause a large profit decrease in Newscorp... The Cable division, where the BSKYB part is under, stood for almost 900 million dollars in profit... and of that half came from BSKYB.

Now the question is.. will the Newscorp board sacrifice Murdoch to avoid loosing out on the BSkyB profit and a possible future 100% buyout. I say.. they will when push comes to shove as they say.

That's what it's always been about... Hell, they even invented a phony "media watchdog" organization who's specific purpose is to destroy Fox News. Any media outlets that don't subscribe to the liberal/democratic narritive, must be silenced.

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep

That must be it... I guess Media Matters is just a manifestation of my paranoid delusions.

I never visited any liberal sites...Ive never been to moveon.org or mediamatters....I used to go to Drudge a few times daily...now I go to huffington post and drudge...both are slanted...drudge FAR MORE so than huff post and to be honest...drudge doesnt have squat on it...he doesnt report much hes just a blog with a big right wing slant.....huff is slanted left...but it does report on actual events...I dont see any where else...so ive incorporated that into my daily read...along with left and right wing outlets...I want both sides...not one anymore

Actually.. considering Media Matters targets others than Fox News, then yea you are paranoid.

No Media Matters is a real organisation but the problem comes from the statement about how its "specific purpose is to destroy Fox News". Rather its "specific purpose" is to call out all manner of falsehoods and bias in American media, not specifically FoxNews.
