Ron Paul Posts Criticism of Censorship ... Shortly Before Facebook Blocks Him

Well, I hope I'm wrong, I really do.
And you're not alone. But what do regular people do who disagree but are lacking the voice to speak out. Don't know if you've seen this before but BG describes the situation in which many of us are now finding ourselves, the same situation in which Germans, Japanese, Muslims, etc. found themselves.

I can't believe you can say this with a straight face.

When you give billionaires control they take more and they don't stop with just the people you don't like.

Look up Martin Niemöller. His most famous quote has never been more apt than it is right now.

Ummmm....you voted for so called billionaire businessman and now you think you're going to lecture me about the evils of billionaires....really? :ROFLMAO: 😂🤪

See you didn't even listen. I wasn't lecturing you on the evils of billionaires I'm not a leftist. I was lecturing you on licking the boots of the billionaires that control your speech. And how you're just begging for it.

And how this is exactly what has happened in history before.

Yeah.. sadly for some people to satisfaction of being right is more important

Or feeling right.

What happened to Trump is and was wrong and demonstrates yet again how easily the wolves can be whipped into a self-righteous and destructive frenzy.

Says the guy who needs his news reinterpreted and regurgitated by rightwing blogs and doesn't have an original thought to save his life.

You can excuse censorship however you wish but it is an authoritarian behavior and you are supporting it. Hiding censorship behind violations of TOS is just a way to make you feel better about authoritarianism.

So if someone is banned from this site for ToS violations the owners are authoritarian???

The outraged seem to forget no right is limitless, every public forum has rules, some are very lax, some very strict. Some statements, pictures, videos are banned and posting them will get you banned. Those who rant about censorship, did you cry 'Authoritarian!' when gory pics, nude pics, got people banned??? I don't recall that. I do recall one instance where the ban was reversed.

So no right is limitless, every website has rules, violate them and get the boot, appeal and reconsideration has occurred- I advise those who have their panties in a bundle to stifle the 'authoritarian' BS and find something else to whine about... ✌

This scares me to death. This is Ron Paul, the consummate libertarian, being axed for criticism of--of all things--an epidemic of censorship.

Via blogger Jonathan Turley (bold by me):
Now former Texas congressman Ron Paul, 85, has been blocked from using his Facebook page for unspecified violations of “community standards.” Paul’s last posting was linked to an article on the “shocking” increase of censorship on social media. Facebook then proceeded to block him under the same undefined “community standards” policy.
Paul, a libertarian leader and former presidential candidate, has been an outspoken critics of foreign wars and an advocate for civil liberties for decades. He wrote:
“With no explanation other than ‘repeatedly going against our community standards,’ @Facebook has blocked me from managing my page. Never have we received notice of violating community standards in the past and nowhere is the offending post identified.
His son is Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) tweeted, “Facebook now considers advocating for liberty to be sedition. Where will it end?”
Even before the riot, Democrats were calling for blacklists and retaliation against anyone deemed to be “complicit” with the Trump Administration. We have been discussing the rising threats against Trump supporters, lawyers, and officials in recent weeks from Democratic members are calling for blacklists to the Lincoln Project leading a a national effort to harass and abuse any lawyers representing the Republican party or President Trump. Others are calling for banning those “complicit” from college campuses while still others are demanding a “Truth and Reconciliation Commission” to “hold Trump and his enablers accountable for the crimes they have committed.” Daily Beast editor-at-large Rick Wilson has added his own call for “humiliation,” “incarceration” and even ritualistic suicides for Trump supporters in an unhinged, vulgar column.
After the riots, the big tech companies moved to ban and block sites and individuals, including Parler which is the primary alternative to Twitter. Also, a top Forbes editor Randall Lane warned any company that they will be investigated if they hire any former Trump officials.
Also (ibid.):

The riots are being used as a license to rollback on free speech and retaliate against conservatives. In the meantime, the silence of academics and many in the media is deafening. Many of those who have spoken for years about the dark period of McCarthyism and blacklisting are either supporting this censorship or remaining silent in the face of it.
Please don't let this be you.

As Republican icon Michelle Malkin would say were it a Democrat getting blocked on Facebook, "Boo Freaking Hoo!"

Ron Paul can still say anything he wants, the 1st Amendment doesn't guarantee he holds sway over someone else's venue to say it though.

Seriously though Ron should be more worried about having a long talk with his son about some of Rand's more moronic moves of late.

When people are allowed to say kill pence, yes. The TOS is only applied selectively

Selectively applying TOS is authoritarian. And today it's Ron Paul tomorrow it might be you.

i hope that he has fully recovered from his medical emergency. i don't agree with him anymore, but i wish him the best.

Prove it.

Ron Paul admitted on Neil Cavuto's program that he, Ron, was not aware that Facebook had any "community standards" aka rules. They also explained that Facebook's action was in (an) error and they had corrected it.

Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy!

No censorship just a mistake, mistakes happen, right?

But Ron, next time read the rules, they can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/policies?ref=pf

Free speech is only allowed from the left and they can do and say whatever the hell they want. But, if you don't agree with the woke crowd you will be censored. This has been happening more and more over the years and is now the new US. Only lefty opinions are allowed.

Got a link?

Facebook can do whatever they want with their product and service. Sorry but if Hobby Lobby can refuse to provide contraceptives then Facebook can tell Ron Paul to jump in the lake.

I agree. It is ugly. It is petty. IMO it is the Far Left that started this war as well... with all the Political Correctness and shaming of anybody that did not agree with them.
"Never let a crisis go to waste"

'Selectively applying'... the lament of the rabid right 'victims'...

Oh how many times the rabid right in here claims that????

So Ron got banned, appealed and got his account reopened- yeah VERY authoritarian... :giggle:

Seems I recall many posting (not saying) violence against Obama, BushII, Clinton....

But to call for open rebellion and then the Deplorables attack our Nation's Capital (that is the 'jump the shark' moment that pushes the simple frothy blather to dangerous levels.) Attacking the Capital Building changes everything, one thing to froth another when the frothers attack democracy.

That some fail to grasp that seems the bigger issue- Ron was banned appealed and his account back active- seems awfully snowflake of a thing to try and gin up to authoritarians destroying the 1st amendment.

This isn't a 'They came for him and I said nothing' trite way overworked clap trap.... ✌

Theres only one time im aware that Dr. Paul grossly violated the TOS was when he reposted a literal nazi meme with the ugly stereotype of jewish people punching uncle sam along with other caricatures doing the same. He of course tried to hide it but i saw it before he deleted the tweet.

yeah and I'm sure these giant corporations will allow that just like they did with parlor. Do you not know what an oligopoly is? You'd have to create your own internet

So we've moved the goalposts from monopoly to oligopoly now?

Ive been robo banned twice on a temporary basis on twitter. It happens. Want to see a decrease in big tech’s power? Antitrust or make it a regulated utility.
