WASHINGTON - Republican Mitt Romney won Nevada's caucuses Saturday, while John McCain and Mike Huckabee dueled in the South Carolina primary, two races likely to winnow the crowded field of GOP presidential rivals.

I notice that Dr .Paul is leading both McCain, and Thompson at least on the early returns.

<The first scattered returns showed Romney with more than 40 percent of the vote. Paul, McCain and former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson were tightly bunched, far behind the leader. Alone among the Republican contenders, Rep. Ron Paul of Texas aired television ads in Nevada, and the libertarian-leaning Texan looked for his best showing of the campaign season.>

<The survey showed independents were leaning toward the libertarian-leaning Texas Rep. Ron Paul. Romney and Paul were the only Republican candidates to campaign much in Nevada.>

I don't understand how they can declare a winner in Nevada at 1:00 PM local time. Doesn't it last all day?

Did any Republican candidates with the exception of Paul and Romney campaign there?

this could explain some of it.

<Trouble with the polls, weather
South Carolina primary voters coped with equipment difficulty and bad weather.

Election officials in the area around Myrtle Beach brought out paper ballots after some electronic voting machines failed to work properly.

Snow fell in the northern part of the state, which has little snow removal equipment.>

Hillary is the projected winner for the Dems.

YouTube - Obama prefers Ronald Reagan over Bill Clinton

This quote probably didn’t help him with the culinary workers union in Vegas.

< I don't want to present myself as some sort of singular figure. I think part of what's different are the times...I think Ronald Reagan changed the trajectory of America in a way that Richard Nixon did not and in a way that Bill Clinton did not. He put us on a fundamentally different path because the country was ready for it. I think they felt like with all the excesses of the 1960s and 1970s and government had grown and grown but there wasn't much sense of accountability in terms of how it was operating. I think people, he just tapped into what people were already feeling, which was we want clarity we want optimism, we want a return to that sense of dynamism and entrepreneurship that had been missing.>

How can anyone prefer someone who fell asleep in Cabinet meetings?

maybe they allow vote counts to be posted as they occur...instead of waiting til all the polls close.

He managed to stay awake long enough in1981,to fire 11345 striking air traffic controllers, unions have a long memory.

Good News Good News. Hillary will squash Romney like a bug in the elections and...need I say more? :)

The GOP causcus was at 9 am local time, I think.

Anyway, Romneys win shows that being a Mormon isn't a liability in every state.

....Navy....honestly....between just you and I....do you think that ANY of the Republican candidates have a serious chance against Hillary? The woman is a political juggernaut...

Very true...

Only Paul could give her a run, due to the fact that he represents complete change, something that is a pillar of Clinton's campaign.

Wow, that is one of the funniest things I have ever heard. You must be a professional comedian.

Or you could have a very "different" sense of humor:2wave:

No way in hell? Funny....last time I checked.... Romney had well over twice as many delegates so far that his closest competitor. Romney has won more primaries than any other GOP candidate and has consistently finished second in most that were won by someone else. I don't think you can count Romney out yet.....which candidate are you supporting this week?

My guess is, anybody but Romney.....:2wave:
