I believe it is best to get out all the facts as we know them associated with our financial position," Priebus said in a statement. "To date, the committee has approximately $23 million in debt: $15 million in loans, and $8 million owed to vendors."

RNC Is $23 Million in Debt, Says Chairman Reince Priebus - Political Hotsheet - CBS News
On one side, we have the democrats bowing to the banks again and failing come up with a plan to bring this fiscal runaway train under control.
Then on the other side we have a party chomping at the bit to make hay with it by claiming to be the more fiscally responsible choice, better suited to get the economy going again...
... just one problem...
They are almost $24 million in debt.
$15 million in loans? Loans? Backed by what assets? With what plan to pay it back? How do you sell this to future and returning donors? Are they now going to be the party of small change?
In keeping with full disclosure, I personally hate political parties of all stripes... so far, just to save on the kneejerk ignorant personal attacks.
File this under "be careful what you wish for". Republicans were all or superpacs and unlimited, anonymous donations. Now, instead of donating to the RNC (and thereby revealing their graft ... err, gifts) big donors are giving their bucks anonymously to third-party partisans.
Yes, they Republicans need everyone to donate as much change as possible so that they can continue class warfare against the middle and lower classes and continue this redistribution of wealth to the already wealthy.
You mean like the GOP have done with the economy at large? Funny how the party of "fiscal responsibility" are now the party of big debt and deficits and running from the bill.
They don't care now that they have the Citizens United decision. This is filed under the "You Just Can't Make This Sh*t Up" heading

Looks like a bait thread to me.

Some funny replies!
But seriously... Who would give these guys a loan, and...
How do you run on ethics and spending reform when the reason you're in debt is because of financial scandals within your own party?
I mean, is this the freakin poster child for "WE ARE ALL BEING HAD"?
Looks like a bait thread to me.

I am curious how easily they can fix this and pay off the loans, or are they facing long term problems like lack of donations?
Do like Reagan, the Bush's and Rick Perry in Texas... borrow from Social Security (the first 3) and do voodoo economics after taking handouts from people you public denounce (perry).
That is sooooo funny.
And the GOP isn't the more fiscally conservative party. They have ran up more debt than the dems, and we have had more recessions when a republican is president.
According to a report filed Saturday with the Federal Election Commission, the RNC raised $5.8 million in July–including roughly $66,000 in transfers from other party committees–and has $7.6 million in cash-on-hand to use for the election battle against incumbent Democratic President Barack Obama.
The committee carries $17 million in debt.
The Democratic fundraising arm has $20.1 million in cash-on-hand to use for the president’s re-election, and carries $11.2 million in debt.
They won't raise revenue streams, and will simply cut their way out of it.
I'm cool with that to a degree. As long as the cut the right things. Medicaid needs massive reformation. There is gross abuse of Medicaid/Medicare by both claimants and service provider, though these days, I think more so the former. The military needs to be drawn way back to at least 2003 levels, yet we need to be able to maintain both a technology and response time edge.
The way to raise revenue streams is to create small companies that can grow to bigger companies to sell to Americans more of what Americans, and the rest of the world, buys. For cryin out loud... my Levis aren't even Levis anymore and they aren't made in the US. No jeans are. No textiles at all.
Everyone cries that we need a massive military to defend ourselves... no, we need a manufacturing base that can wshift gears in times of war and crank out the artillery as we need it. Worked very well in WWII and served us very well after in the civilian manufacturing sector long after.
That is sooooo funny.
