of said rights. Force us to do so, and you'll find OUT that your wannabe collectivism is not going to work here. We'll teach you the hard way, if you can't learn any other way. We'll jsut shoot enough of you to MAKE you stop trying to take our guns.

Nah, they come from a piece of paper. Learn your history.

Ok Chairman Mao.

I read reports that Mao tried to be more thrifty, where he could and had the opposition whupped with a club. But those were hard times and the country poor.

It's been some time that I thumbed through that one.

I realize that you are being witty, but a lot of people naively believe that.

"Every Communist must grasp the truth, "Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun"." Originally from one of his essays "Problems of War and Strategy".

That is because it is actually true. It is an important piece of paper, but that is exactly what it is.

I have always believed that coercion is at the center of all order and that this truth gets lost in the mind of the citizen in comfortable circumstances.

I would strongly disagree. It appears that order comes from a piece of paper. In fact it is peaceful, because people act that way. They do that, because the consequences are made so unpleasant for them, if they place self interest over the paper. In the extreme they are shot.

Rarely are people shot over rights. And the rights come from the paper. They do not come from, as the OP suggests, Joe SixPack and his gun collection.

No. Luckily people condition themselves to obey the rules knowing full well, what happens, when they don't. You would not need the police and courts otherwise.

A piece of paper that would not exist and would be meaningless with out the sacrifice and the killing done to bring it about and sustain it.

Gandhi is an objective demolition of the OP's assumptions. He freed the world's biggest democracy without raising a hand in anger, let alone a gun.

Wait a ding dong minute!!!!! You mean our rights did not come from mythical gods floating in the sky handing them out like so many Halloween treats to costumed toddlers in late October???? :doh:roll::mrgreen:

An excellent point. Rights are hard won and we should always remember that. This is one reason I find it insulting and demeaning to wallow in the delusion that our rights were simply given to us by god or nature and the people and their government are just hitchhikers going along for the ride.

Rights come when enough people exert enough power or force or influence upon their government and demand that a certain behavior be protected as a right by government. Its a very normal two part process where the people and the peoples government play equally important roles.

And the the self imposed willful belief in the world - even if written down in documents or law - cannot change that reality.

Nice rant. But random killing and the killing of cops, etc, that has been seen by some who believe the same as you do, helps no one and does nothing useful.

Killing is only useful when it is part of a strategy that leads to victory. Killing politicians for example is at best a waste of time, at worst, it creates a sympathetic backlash that can do greater harm. Look at the Kennedy assassination, it put Johnson in office 4 years longer than necessary and lead to worse things than leaving Kennedy in office may have done.

Analyse the situation, form a strategy that will work based upon how things happen.

For example. Anti gun faction lives in the Dem party. How could you reduce their influence? How are elections won? What supports their agendas? Killing someone such as Whineswine (feinstein) would do little as her state would only elect another gun hating Dem to her place. But what if you took out the money behind the Dems? What about the campaign managers that plan the elections they win? What about the Editors and Producers of that print and broadcast Liberal biased "News"? If a Rep is the President, what about Liberal Justices that the President appoints?
