Right Wing Media Stars Push Russian Propaganda

It has now been confirmed that Tenet Media - which includes Tim Pool and Benny Johnson - were paid millions of dollars to push talking points supplied by the Kremlin.

Hoo, boy y’all! What a day!
Earlier, Merrick Garland gave a press conference in which he said the Department of Justice had unsealed an indictment of two Russian agents for spreading Russian propaganda in the US in an effort to interfere in the 2024 election by helping Donald Trump.
At first, I thought “Good! More Russians indicted!” But as I began to read the indictment and watch how people were reacting to it, it became clear just how involved some of the most popular right wing podcasters and media outlets have been.

CNN is now confirming that Russian agents negotiated contracts worth millions of dollars for folks like Tim Pool and Benny Johnson - commentators for a company called Tenet media. As one sleuth pointed out - the Tenet Media mission statement matched that of “company 1” in the indictment, and the number of followers for both Tim Pool and Benny Johnson matched the number of followers mentioned in the indictment.
So while we all knew that these guys were pushing Russian talking points, we now know that they were paid by Russia, and we have proof that Russia was dictating their talking points.
In some of the exhibits attached to the indictments, we can see the talking points shared with this right wing nut jobs - and they read just like Trump’s campaign talking points.

For example, exhibit 8 is a document shared with Tenet media, and it says (translated from the original Russian):
Goal: To secure victory of a US. Political Party A (republican/Trump) at the US Presidential elections to be held in November of 2024.
Objectives:

  • To increase the percentage of Americans who believe that the US "has been doing way too much to support Ukraine" to 51% (as of 11/02/2023 such index was 41%, according to Gallup).
  • To increase the percentage of Americans who believe that the war is to be ended as soon as possible, even at the cost of territorial concessions on the part of Ukraine, to 53% (as of 11/02/2023 such index was 43%, according to Gallup).
  • To bring Candidate B (Biden’s) confidence rating down to the minimal level of 29% (as of 11/19/2023 this rating was 39%, based on CNNs "poll of polls").
Target audience:
  • Residents of "swing states whose voting results impact the outcomes of the elections more than other states. In 2024, such states, according to The New York Times and Sienna College, are Nevada, Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
  • Residents of conservative states where traditional values are strong who more often vote for candidates of the US. Political Party A: Alabama, Kansas, Texas, Wyoming, Louisiana, etc.
  • US citizens of Hispanic descent.
  • American Jews.
  • Community of American gamers, users of Reddit and image boards, such as 4chan (the "backbone" of the right-wing trends in the US segment of the Internet).

The GOP should have kicked the traitor to the curb when he asked Russia to attack American citizens on his behalf.

How important is the source? Just because it's from Russia doesn't mean it's right, nor does it mean it's wrong. I would argue that if they're providing facts that those facts many be suspect and should be checked out. However if they're providing an legitimate opinion supported by a rationale then it doesn't matter where it came from. It's always up to the listener to perform due diligence and verify that it all makes sense.

And we all know how well people do due diligence right? If everyone did proper due diligence, Trump wouldn't have any supporters.

People doing "their own research" are free to find a bunch of YouTube videos funded by Russian and American oligarchs.

I'm going to have to do some research to find the DOJ indictment in order to answer those questions.

They didn't mention the web targets included tictoc, and other mainstream social media.

Trump must account for failure to object to foreign influence in the election!!

Tim Pool's posts vis-a-vis Ukraine have only gotten more deranged over time. It figures that he was being paid top dollar to mechanically and uncritically regurgitate Kremlin talking points.

Agreed. BUT when you consider that Trump supporters are as dumb as bricks, it is only prudent to keep propaganda and misinformation away from their addled minds.

There was a point in time where anything involving Russia was never viewed as a good thing.

Now MAGA embrace Russia.

I think we should be clear here that the DOJ insists that these folks were duped and not aware of how they were being used. Of course, that is a typical outcome for Trump supporters. If they weren't so busy ****ing up the country, they would have my full sympathy.

And we all know how well people do due diligence right? If everyone did proper due diligence, Trump wouldn't have any supporters.

Right?

Election interference by foreign powers is illegal in the U.S. There is nothing you can say to defend these traitors. Read the indictment.

REPUBLICANS use to be so worried that the commies in the USSR were gonna infiltrate the USoA and bring us down from within and damn if they aren't the EXACT people that the old commie from Russia is using to bring our country down from within.

It's ****ing sickening.

Hopefully more propaganda peddlers like this company will be exposed.

MAGA commies love Russia and Putin, this isn't surprising.

So you're saying foreign interference in US elections is perfectly OK with you?

I gotta tell ya, pal, that's one of those out-of-your-mind comments. How important is the source, you ask? How do we know that YOU are not one of those foreign propagandists POSING as an American so you can PUSH your foreign government's position on unwitting Americans? No way to tell!

After listening to Merrick Garland's address to the nation yesterday, where he detailed Russia's EXTENSIVE EFFORTS through social media to dupe Americans, spread false narratives, and amplify divisions in the United States, one can only wonder how many planted Russian agents inhabit this very website, spewing their toxic propaganda and creating false divisions.

Come to think of it, several of the posters here DO seem to fit the profile very well -- they do nothing but express THE MOST EXTREME and radical positions, without EVER considering any argument or prior debunking of such positions. It's always the same, misguided demonstrably false disinformation.

Would be interesting to know just how INFECTED this website really is.

By the way, it is a CRIME to serve and represent a foreign nation without notification that one is a foreign agent. A serious crime, punishable by up to five years in prison.
