Wow, didn't know about this one. So relevant to the topic of the week. Wasn't sure if Newsweek is main or non -main stream. Figured safety.

Again, I am a believer that we have a problem in the USA regarding political rhetoric and violence.

It happens both sides. We saw Tuesday a leftie nut. This article demonstrates a failed right wing nut.

I have too many people I love and respect on both sides to generalize an entire group.

I believe a congressman said it best, I can only control what I say and I will do my part to reduce the rhetoric.

Us v them no longer works. I hope our leaders are ready for that challenge.

Anytime I claim both sides are the issue I am told no way.

I figured evidence is needed.

I explain what I want using this evidence to convince the right they are not innocent.

I do not hear the left denying their guilt. The rhetoric on the left is a problem, period!

To fix the problems both sides need to admit their role.

Oh, and this story shocked me. I hadn't seen it before. I hate the headline but I lose points if I change it for this discussion. I learned that yesterday.

That would be nice, it's just not what I'm seeing. At all. The political system is all about murdering the will of the people, just as the founders envisioned.

There are some definitely messed up people out there no doubt.

Problem with the article is classifying some of these groups that are ostensibly anarchists as right wing exclusively is disingenuous.

Doesn't matter upon which side such extremism lay, unless it's in combat with a worse extremism, we need to track it, disarm it, at least metaphorically

Since the early 1950s the far right has been a threat to the foundations of this county first under the guise of anti communism and since the age of Ronald Reagan "American Patriotism" and the US Constitution. Their agenda is hegemony in the US and zionism (meaning more of a caliphate than a Jewish state). Their ultra conservatism is purely evangelical in nature and militaristic in action; a design that flirts quite heavily with what was known as fascism: i.e. - a national and corporate agenda using the military as a means to an end.

If you have not heard denial by the left you have not been listening. Thats the majority of what i hear from them.

I do however agree that everyone should be united to putting a stop to it from both sides.

I guess you haven't been paying attention. You can start in the White House beginning with Ronald Reagan and now Steven Bannon sneaking in under Trump; Bannon's motives are no secret. Barry Goldwater was the far right poster boy who gave voice to the movement outside of its fringe confines on back water Texas and Arkansas am radio in the 50s. Reagan ushered in the Moral Majority and the suppression of left leaning political issues and thus came Limbaugh and Rupert Murdoch; again the far right politics of propaganda and social suppression are no secret and have always been on record, and debunked for the most part.

The overt calamity of the GW Bush era and the mission of Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld to overthrow Iraq in favor of the oil field is again one of the best know open secrets of modern history; a dismal failure, again on record as such and known all over the world as a dismal failure. Enter now the racist rhetoric against the Muslim religion that is fostered and encouraged in the country from on high; again see the Trump cabal and elements in our own congress representing a completely usurped Republican party in tandem with the hijacking American wealth through direct suppression of American labor and thus any defenses that the middle class might have that created a vacuum known today as the one percent.

It's patently obvious and the neo liberal Democrats have taken their share of the money: "trickle down" worked well for them as well, and now we have a country whose leadership is non existent but the train wreck of hegemony thunders on unmolested. Even the country's lexicon has moved to the far right and become more overtly militaristic than ever before with popular phrases like "boots on the ground", "intell", "our warriors" / "heros": it's all aimed at perpetual war against a boogieman enemy that was created and now fostered by the military industrial complex to such a a point, that once again Americans are almost looking under their beds to fund theenemy... I guess you're too young to remember the magazine racks tat carried "Solder of Fortune" that was all about militarism and mercenary "adventure, not unlike the Norman invasion of 1066.

Reasonable people who take the time to read as much as we can get our hands on and cross reference and research our own world history see it like the mid day sun: Europe knows it; they lived it and still do. The US however is an island buried in the I-phone and the luxury of diversion to see who's going to win Wheel of Fortune.

That however, just like many times before, is being interrupted by awareness and the drawing of a line, now called leftist's hate: pure unadulterated propaganda, but an easily predicted reaction just like the interruptions of the British Empire in the American Colonies by - leftists hate...

Power and money are like a clock; you start at 12 and pretty soon you come right back around to the same place and hope that you can pull it on another generation. But the generations get smarter...

From the looks of it you don't know history adequately.

What you start off with, and mainly continue, is a description of political party you don't agree with (pssst, that is why there is more than one party ) and for which you give your jaundiced spin leaving out the bad ideology that these folks were countering... the red, minimum socialist, divisive, media hijackers promoting identity politics, unreasonably rapid unreasoned social change, equality of outcomers over equality of opportunity...

And yes, you said it, both sides parties have bent us over and yet when a guy willing to take a lot of that on for us, all of us, you go hang with those constantly giving it to us from the backside?

So you follow up one lie with another. Go visit a liberal union shop sometime if you want to hear what real racism sounds like. I married into an Irish Catholic democrat family where I was the only right leaning person for miles. Racial slurs were commonplace. So you can drop your sanctimony.
