I've been seeing lots of talk of revolution on social media.

Discussion Questions:

Is what we're seeing now a "revolution"?

Does there need to be a revolution? What all would that entail?

If so, what should the conclusion of the revolution be?

If there is or will be a revolution, which side (generally) do you think will start it? Which will succeed?

Well, it's change. Change is revolution.

There will be no revolution. The oligarchy (donor class) will (continue to) succeed while most of the rest will (continue to) kid themselves that change will occur by re-electing over 90% of congress critters, yet again.

The Strauss–Howe generational theory predicts a major shift in this nations ideals to occur basically any day now.

We go through a major societal value shift every 70-100 years.

Every day there's another member from the youngest generations, speaking to their boomer/greatest gen parents or grandparents about politics. Every day a southern Conservative finds out his child is dating someone of another race.

There are old people that value climate control, the right to chose an abortion and the right to immigrate to this country, but our youngest voters just sat through a trump presidency with no voice, now they have one. Lots of young voters still won't vote, but the air is heavy with the pursuit of change, and kids like to bandwagon. Most people school age are gunna want free college. Shareholders and bureaucratic positions doing nothing, have inflated college prices and book prices at an advanced rate since 08, but kids working minimum wage are making the same "transitional income" their parents did. Our leaders have ignored inflation. A very easy thing to understand.

The youth are most directly affected by the direction of this nation. I think Greta Thunberg becoming a powerful name among young people is a clear sign they aren't listening to adults anymore. Politicians lie so bluntly that any child with a 3 digit iq knows they're getting f*cked.

401Ks and company provided insurance may have worked for the boomers, but they sucked it all up. Now Millennials can only make 10cents to the dollar from a companies 401k, and that's a relatively mid-tier return these days. Not to mention how few things insurance actually covers now. The only people able to pretend things are alright either earned their money in a boom or received from mummy and daddy. More and more people are getting f*cked too hard to ignore it, and I think we're going to see similar sentiments that we're seeing today, for the next few years.

Now the sh*ty part of the Strauss-Howe chart is that the left wave will likely go a little too far, validating some concerns about speech oppression or adherence to pc culture. While I'm hopeful that the change is only in the places we need it, this is going to be a rocky transition no matter what.

I don't think people need to start shooting though, our voices seem to be loud enough.

This is equivalent to or similar to the Vietnam era when the war and civil rights issues were causing protests, riots, and huge cultural shifts. There were dirty hippies, drugs, and flag burning ceremonies permeating society but the govt and economy kept chugging along.

Yes, there are many similarities to the 60's.
