Republicans nominate Mike Johnson for House speaker in latest attempt to break GOP impasse

You are displaying some common sense. Social conservatism is extremely hard to legislate. Fiscal conservatism, not so much.

I think Johnson will have some hard work ahead of him to get much passed without some political horse trading. The mistake McCarthy made was he did that trading without informing his caucus. So long as Johnson makes such things known before he agrees to them or has some consensus on bargains, he may be able to get things done. But, I have seen even veteran politicians be unable to do such, McCarthy being the obvious example.

I don’t recall McCarthy not informing his caucus.

Regardless, they were hell bent on demonstrating their ability to hold everyone hostage.

Look on the bright side. It's someone new for you kooky leftists to obsess about. Think of all the acting out you can do.

Wait until they get to deep diving his dumpster……….

In the same week Sidney Powell copped a plea, a turd floats to the top of the septic tank, by unanimity of a vote by the PoS the least educated local voting majorities send to DC to"represent" them, rewarded by the PoS for making the same claims that got Powell indicted.

Hes the ghost of Hugo Chavez guy? The GOP has rabies now lol…

Ok please tell me in detail how the left is what’s wrong with the country, when you literally said as long as it pisses off the libs, you’re ok with it.

You could care less what’s happening in this country if all you want to do is kick sand at the other side, but the left is the one with the problem?
What's REALLY funny is that he didn't even see the disconnect.

You should read some of Lincoln's speeches.

In his acceptance speech to his fellow congressmen, Mr. Johnson repeatedly referenced scripture. “The Bible is very clear that God is the one that raises up those in authority,” he said. “He raised up each of you, all of us. And I believe that God has ordained and allowed each one of us to be brought here for this specific time.”

What utter nonsense. God is responsible for Hitler, the leaders of Hamas and other despicable characters. To quote Trump. Sick, sad.

Just got home from work. Looks like the nightmare is somewhat over. We have a new Speaker of the House. The bad news is, he's on the far-right, a Trump loyalist, and has a record of being anti-LGBTQ. Yes, folks, he supports conversion therapy and wanted to ban gay sex. Good luck getting anything done.

True, but those opposed to aid to Ukraine won't let a little thing like Truth stop them. Just as there were secret admirers of Hitler, folks who thought he did a lot of good for Germany and showed how a strong leader can get things done, so there are Putin admirers. Moreover, because of the crazy Hunter Biden and Russian collusion controversies somehow Ukraine became demonized by Trump and his supporters.
The "somehow" is being Putin fanboys. The Maga's know as well as we do that Putin elected Trump in 2016 and will be eternally grateful to him like Trump is.

Just as I predicted would happen.

The liberal tears are so wonderfully delicious. Maybe the libs should have thought about all this before their Dems decided to vote McCarthy out.
Ah isee we are just making shit up again as usual hoping to land some bait with this dumb take.

Mike is perfect..perfect for the gop. He will spawn numerous ads till election day with him being against gay marriage, nation abortion ban etc..and I haven't even touched the election crap.

You should pray the left are too lazy to come out and vote.

Pray trix...pray.

Look on the bright side. It's someone new for you kooky leftists to obsess about. Think of all the acting out you can do.
Nation abortion ban..the ads write themselves in key swing districts. Which has already been tested as a good rally to vote down republican policies.

You all ****ed yourselves..as usual.

Moderate least gave you some chance to hold the house

When the government shuts down because the crazies won’t make a deal, MAGA will own the blame. Because it will be the same cast of characters standing in the way.

We do not disagree, I was largely just commenting on what this means politically today. And Republicans all lined up for it.

MAGA commies love their crank tinfoil hat bullshit, though.

It is bizarre that Russia is a considerably more credible threat than the USSR was in the 80s but Biden kneecapping Russia with a checkbook the same way we did with the USSR is so unpopular with the supposed Reaganphiles.
Not at all bizzare. We were engaged in a cold war with the USSR. It was a chess game in influence. Although there was a sense of a military threat in the 50's and 60's, that matter was pretty much reduced to a civilized sense of stalemate. The USSR made very few moves by force except to defend its internal influence. In stark contrast, Russia is a rogue state characterized by incredible amounts of interior corruption (which is why their military is a mess). That actually have conquered on country and now are engaged that enterprise again. They are far more dangerous today than they were in the middle of the cold war.

(PS - its clear you get this, but for those listening at home that are clueless, that is my answer to the subtle question you raised)
