The top congressional Republican laid into President Barack Obama Thursday, accusing him of taking a "nap" on Iraq, while a lawmaker called for US air strikes to repel Islamist rebels advancing on Baghdad. Get a new national security team in place. You have been ill-served," he told Obama in a speech on the Senate floor.

House Speaker John Boehner angrily snapped that the Obama administration has seen the pressure on Iraq's government building for over a year but did little to help authorities there counter the insurgents. Now they've taken control of Mosul, they're 100 miles (160 kilometers) from Baghdad," Boehner told reporters.

"And what's the president doing? Taking a nap."

They are after BO's Team Now. What say ye?

How many different positions has the GOP come out with today on Iraq?
Obviously they'll all blame Obama, neocons and isolationists alike.

Here's what will happen - the Democrats will blame Bush, and the media will focus on how the Republicans in Congress are not supporting Obama and his foreign policy (which doesn't exist, although they'll never say that). In other words, we will have to wait until either Obama is out of office, or some major event occurs that effects the US mainland before Obama is out of office, before anything at all happens. Now, you may see some missiles thrown around, and maybe even some hand-wringing and chest thumping from the White House, but nothing that will change a damned thing.

Where's the outrage from the left? Similar to the outrage over a "Mission Accomplished" banner put up by the Navy that only referenced the mission of the Aircraft Carrier Battle Group, and not the war, but when Obama says the Iraq War is over, and then this happens within months of leaving... silence, except for blaming Bush and the Republicans in Congress.

I wish I could disagree. But I can't. Obama is this nation's first Infant President. He has his playpen cleaned daily by those who put him in office.

Seems Johnny Quest McCain is on the same page huh.....eh Nimby?

As well they should. The office is SUPPOSED to come with some accountability.

Iraqi Security Forces and police, the folks who should be stopping this now, were trained under both Bush and Obama. Obama never made an radical changes to the Iraq policy while in office as the withdraw had already been set during the Bush administration, Obama attempted to renegotiate that but to no avail.

The our efforts in the Iraq War are showing to have failed more and more every day, and you can't blame a single person for that.

OBAMA is the current sitting president. Obama has been the current sitting president for 6 yeas. OBAMA is accountable.

Yes he is, so is Bush, so are a lot of people.

What don't you get about Bush not being in office and has no power to change anything? God Almighty! What IS it with you silly people?

Its sad that our soldiers of Iraq will die in veign in the same way that our soldiers in Vietnam did... sad indeed.

someone critical of Obama, please explain the actions he should have taken and why

No no...this is one of Obamas greatest successes.

And sadly...he is actually kinda telling the truth.

The Antis think that whatever Obama does is the wrong thing, and if he does nothing, that us wrong too. That Obama should do nothing here is irrelevant.

Watching McCain make his "shouldn't have declared victory" comment was barf material. Had he forgotten Bush's "Mission Accomplished" pantomime? Boehner was merely his risible self.

Take this from an old Vietnam vet, all one can do is train and equip the local forces to your utmost ability. You can't fight the war for them forever. I think once we left Vietnam we left the local forces in real good shape. These are material and physical things. I am sure if you ask any Iraqi vet they will tell you the same. What we can't do is given them heart once we are gone. If you look back to my time, during the Eastertide offensive, we still had advisers with some of the Vietnamese units to include the ones at An Loc. Out numbered, surrounded, cut off from any help the South Vietnamese units along with a couple of American advisers put up one hell of a fight and were eventually relieved. An Loc didn't fall. Take away every single adviser and move to 1975 and you know what happened. There were other circumstances, but the will and the heart became lacking. Panic and chaos set in, there was no steadying influence.

Does this apply to present day Iraq, perhaps. But the bottom line is all we can do is train and equip, what the local forces do with that training and equipment is entirely up to them. We can give them the best chances possible of succeeding, but we can't make them succeed and win. They must do that on their own.

What were the Achievements touted by BO and his Team JB? Here lets look at a couple said.

In 2010, Vice President Joe Biden called the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq and the ongoing drawdown of that war one of President Barack Obama’s “great achievements.” As recently as Tuesday, incoming White House Press Sec. Josh Ernest called ending the Iraq War one of Obama’s “most important national security priorities” and the neutralization of al-Qaeda a “success.”.

“Given what we’re seeing now in Iraq, can you still claim those as two of your signature achievements?” Karl asked.

“There is no question that the president pledged to end the war in Iraq, and he did,” Carney replied.

“There’s no war in Iraq right now?” Karl pressed.

“U.S. combat missions in Iraq,” Carney clarified.....snip~

Did BO leave troops in Iraq JB?

Besides McCain, Graham and Boehner,
who else from the GOP is showing the World how well the disloyal opposition speaks to the President on each new foreign policy situation?
All they want is more war--and you repeat their silly remarks.

Never a solution to a problem GOPs created, just give them equipment now in enemy hands and leave a small force dying forever.
Yes, the GOPs created a monster in Iraq--
A foreign policy ****-up the GOP created but now runs from and blames Obama for their steaming pile of manure.

Take it to the American people--should we have stayed there, the elections said no.
Did Americans say no to Syrian intervention--you guys played both sides there too, just like original Benghazi.
As Sen. Manchin says, do we want to be there in perpetuity or not--put up or STFU republies?

Bush brought on a whole new generation of terrorists with his "bring it on" insult.
No one in their right minds could defend that.
Except for those in their far-right neo-minds

And Obama has worked miracles cleaning up the dozens of steaming piles from Cheney/Bush.
Only the current Pope could have done better .
