Reporter Carl Bernstein names 21 GOP senators who 'repeatedly expressed extreme contempt for Trump'

But they also voted for these senators to represent their interests and we saw less than a month ago down ballot support for Republicans does not necessarily mean support for Trump's ideas even if ultimately voted for him. Romney, a very vocal critic of Trump, won his election only two years ago.

They are responsible to their constituents not Trump.
Yes, they are responsible to their constituents...and they will answer to their constituents in the end.

Well people like Romney and this year's election have shown that is not the case.

Kind of, yes. Come January, when Trump is gone, perhaps there are some within the GOP to try to push it back to a place of normalcy. However, I don't think it's that bright of a future for the GOP because none of these people were strong enough to stand up to Trump while he was President.
Because American workers love Donald Trump and that’s the base of the party, denouncing Trump means these people will get primaried out or a new Nationalist Party will be formed. Keep sobbing lib, life liberty and low top marginal tax rates is a dead platform. No one wants it.

It's truly a shame so many Americans love a traitor to those very same Americans.

It's a shame all they could do is talk behind someone's back and not take a stand on what they felt was bad about Trump.

It was more than a shame, in this case it was absolutely unpatriotic, immoral and unethical.

I posted that once Trump is gone the shit is gonna hit the fan.

I should find that thread.

Actually, no. They will answer to the fanatical Trump hardcore followers during their primaries. The rank and file republicans will have virtually no say in the primaries and Trump will direct the fanatics as to whom to replace them with if they fail to adequately kiss his ass.

We have never seen a man so politically powerful in our lifetime. It goes to show the failed nature of the human.

I don't find this surprising at all.

We've known since BEFORE Trump was elected that the GOP Establishment didn't like him. But they have had to lie to their voters about it so their voters don't kick them to the curb, while they've been working to oppose everything Trump and the people who voted for him have wanted to do.

So...now...either Bernstein has screwed them by revealing their names or they think they are safe to come out and state their true feelings.

If any of those Senators are up for reelection in 2022, I suggest they pay Dominion whatever they demand to fix their elections...otherwise they are toast.
You know, I've heard since Trump ran as a candidate in 2016, how he was "anti-the GOP establishment." However, it just isn't true.

What does the GOP establishment want? tax-cuts for the rich, regulation cuts for business, and slashing the social safety net.
What agenda has Trump championed? tax-cuts for the rich, regulation cuts for business, and slashing the social safety net. His policy agenda is pure establishment GOP. Advertising him as anything but establishment is pure BS.

1. You are misrepresenting Trump's agenda. He wants tax cuts for EVERYONE. He wants reduced regulations for EVERYONE. And he has never advocated for slashing the social safety net. Take that spin of yours and shove it.

2. I disagree with your contention about the GOP establishment. If they wanted tax cuts for the rich, why didn't they ever implement them? They only passed tax reform when Trump pushed for tax cuts for everyone. When has any GOP Congressman tried to cut regulations for business? When has any GOP President tried to cut regulations for business? It has never happened until Trump came along with his cuts in regulations for everyone. And the same holds true for the GOP establishment in regard to the social safety net. In fact, the GOP establishment has kept as far away from any action regarding the social safety net...for decades. They prefer to kick the can down the road whenever possible.

3. The fact is, except when they had no way to avoid it, the GOP Elites in Congress have done all they can to oppose the President. And this started immediately after Trump was inaugurated. The repeal of Obamacare is a prime and early example.

He wanted to do away with payroll taxes. What do you suppose would be the direct result of that?

The direct result depends entirely on Congress.

There are a range of results possible and Trump has expressed his proposals, which have nothing to do with slashing the social safety net.

So...that's all I'm going to say to address your spin and nonsense.

You are dismissed.

There is not a range of possibilities. There is the end of social security. Period, full stop. There is no spin, no nonsense, just cold hard fact.

But feel free to run from your mess with the "dismissed" thing.

Complete BS.
Trump and the GOP gave tax-cuts to everyone -- fillet mignon to the rich and peanuts to the masses. The cuts were heavily tilted to the rich and corporations -- and the cuts on the non-rich expire in 2021 but not on the rich.
The regulations that Trump cut aren't anything burdening normal people. He slashed environmental regulations, allowed coal companies to dump mercury in streams and allowed farmers to use pesticides that harm children's brains.
Trump never advocated for slashing the social safety net? Really? He attempted to take away health insurance from tens of millions and replace it with nothing. President Trump’s 2021 budget proposes about $500 billion in net Medicare spending reductions. Trump plans cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid

Trump IS the GOP establishment, not some reformer.

But he's gone in January and Biden will hopefully be able to undo the massive damage Trump left him.

What he wants is no longer relevant.

It's not Trump and his ideals they need to be loyal to, rather their voters...who just so happen are the ones who elected Trump President.

The thing is that GOP senators, members of the Trump administration, and other people that have worked closely with him, are far more qualified to assess how competent of a president Trump is than the average citizen. The fact that so many GOP senators and former members of his administration have voiced so much contempt and criticism says a lot about his leadership. If these GOP senators were any bit concerned about the interests of the people they represent, they wouldn't be enabling Trump. They keep silent because speaking out against him is a very risky political move.

**** em. They are still guilty cowards.

Think of those senators like Cruz and Rubio, and others, who want to run in 2024. They have got to get Trump kicked to the curb without their fingerprints on it if they are to have any chance.
Hell if they run again im going to do all i can to remind everyone these guys are trumpists through and through.

Because they will instead pull a Bolton and sit on what would've been right to instead write a book they can cash in on at a later date.
Bolton was always a crook but hey crooks were used to take down the mafia.
