Rand Paul plans to defund U.S. Planned Parenthood.....

So you are implying that women cannot enjoy the intimacy and pleasure of sex anytime they want? Why should they deny themselves something so great? Huh, sounds kind of misogynistic to me.

They have a safer, legal option in abortion....they have every right to take it if they choose.

Of course they can enjoy sex at any time and with whomever they like and in public or in a closet. But they should live with the humans they thus create at least till after birth. You would expect the boy to uphold his commitment wouldn't you?

Who says?

Cpc?
Whether a war has or has no relevance to national security is debatable. The decision seems understandable. Certainly more so than killing a human because the mother doesn't think it fits her carrier plans.

So killing and displacing children in foreign countries is some how more acceptable?

So what are you arguing with me about then?

This was the discussion. I was pointing out the hypocrisy of the libertarian position. A position that you brought up. The apparent hypocrisy is what makes that 'so difficlut to understand' when you connect one service with 'money confiscated by the state' as if there are no others.

The libertarian position on PP is that it should not be the beneficiary of money confiscated by the state. Why is that so difficult for you to understand? If you are interested in rights, how about defending the rights of the citizens to keep what is rightly their own and use it in ways they decide for themselves. If you support abortion, you fund it. Don't force me to. THAT is the libertarian position. Not sure why that has you so baffled.

Isnt the "libertarian position" one that would dispute "confiscating" any money for any public and social programs/services?

So why single out abortion?

If you cannot explain away or justify the hypocrisy, I understand but at least be up front about it.

We are discussing public funding of abortion. The my position is that there should be no public funding. Where is the hypocrisy?

If his plan goes through, the only thing that will be defunded is NON ABORTION SERVICES.

Good for you, Rand. Make sure more women get abortions because they cannot get birth control. Make sure their cancer gets found at a much later stage because affordable available access to screening dries up. Make sure a patient does not get diagnosed with AIDs until it is spread to other people.

Rands answer to all of that....its like he knew it before it even came about.

One of the arguments against Planned Parenthood getting any money, he said, is the level of spending on other forms of government care. He pointed to funding for community health centers, which surged under both President George W. Bush and President Obama. "Community health centers do everything Planned Parenthood does, except for abortion. So, you also have Obamacare. You’ve got free contraception everywhere in the country now. You’ve got free health insurance," he said. "I really don’t think there is a role for Planned Parenthood to get any money. Many times, when they say ‘we do this or that function,’ they refer that to community health centers. I do think that we’ve got plenty of other government venues without this.”.....snip~ from post 5.

So true.

Interestingly enough.....the amount of "confiscating" that would be needed to increase the capacity of community health centers to account for the MILLIONS that would be running there if PP were to close would be enormous. DO you think Rand would be voting for that level of confiscation?

Nah, they thought two steps ahead. Since Rand knows that PP refers women to Community healthcare centers, already. They decided they would appropriate money where they know that the money will be used for Women's Healthcare. Also where those Community Center aren't conducting abortions. Its a win win!

You do understand it is not "sending them over". They would have to develop and infrastructure to handle them. As they are....the existing centers cannot handle millions more than they already do. Do you think he is going to be ok with the extra funding for development of infrastructure needed make the centers accommodate all the extra influx? Foresight without insight. Nice

PP has already referred out Millions to Community healthcare centers. You didn't want to say they didn't do that, did you? Which means the infrastructure is already intact.

Plus don't forget about BO's special package being able to help things out.

Your question is misleading. Is that intentionally so?

Got a bit of a reading comprehensive problem eh? Makes you a defensive but maybe applying yourself more will help.

No, I meant, why is he singling abortion out?

Maybe because that is the topic being discussed.

In Congress? No kidding.

The OP specifically names Rand Paul, does it not? Is there anything else I can do for you to clarify?

Altho sure, you can indeed provide an answer to my original question where I pointed out a perceived hypocrisy in the libertarian position. Or not.

And there will be millions more. DO they have the infrastructure to see 3 million more people?????

Like Paul said there are other venues and since the creation of PP. There are now more healthcare centers. Community Healthcare centers. More clinics and lets not forget that Pharmacies will be handling a lot of new medical tasks too.

Are you prepared to see more and more woman decide to not even consider PP as being any part of their lives. There will be millions more, ready for that?

And will they have have the abiity to see women without insurance...but too rich for Medicaid and too poor for insurance? Because they will be incredibly backlogged and overloaded by the onslaught of 3 million new patients....will they be able to quickly treat a woman's precancerous PAP smear and catch it before it has invaded and given her full blown cancer.....turning a simple medical procedure she can get on a sliding scale into a cancer that will affect her for the rest of her life?

You have ZERO idea of what planned parenthood really does (the 97percent that is not abortion) and how well they serve their under-resourced clientele.

Are you saying all those women wont be in on BO's special Package? That they would rather pay fines than get BO's special package?

Yeah I don't hang out at PP hospitality centers.....despite all that Assuming you do. Zero idea, huh? :lamo

What "special" package?

What is a PP Hospitality center?

His Affordable care act.

Any of their Abortion Clinics.

The affordable care act is not UHC. What don't you get about that? Why do you insist on continuing to misrepresent the truth.

The Planned Parenthood is 97% not abortion. Interesting that you seem to dismiss 97% of their business. You do realize that Senator Kyl was lying about Planned Parenthood stats, right?

Yet another koolaid drinker.

So, you are saying all those women would rather pay a penalty than get onto BO's Special Package? Again are you saying All wont be able to get services.

I doubt acknowledging them referring patients out to Community Healthcare centers is dismissing what else they do.

Ummmmmm if you are too rich for Medicaid and too poor to pay the penalty....what do you think they are going to do? Not pay the rent to pay the penalty?

Some states embraced Medicaid expansion,, others did not.

But you keep pretending as if ACA is similar to UHC for some.

Now, if you are rallying for UHC....good for you....I am all in (didn't used to be, but I am full on board now)

Then you really shouldn't have any trouble with PP living off of donations.

Seems they need some more defending. Maybe even from an attorney.
