Rachel Maddow Catches Rick Warren In Blatant Lie (VIDEO)

On Thursday night, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow reviewed Rick Warren's video condemnation of an anti-gay law in Uganda. While she said the statement was "better late than never," she stated that the famous pastor came up a little short.

In his message, Warren claimed to be incredulous that his public opinion on the issue should matter. Maddow showed a clip of Warren saying he never campaigned on the issue of Proposition 8 -- followed immediately by a clip of the pastor telling supporters to vote yes on the gay marriage ban.

And we're supposed to be surprised that Warren is a dishonest sleazeball?

Just another homophobic right wing hypocrite. I bet he is gay but cant admit it.

Here I was hoping to find something notable to discuss rather than a rightie minister I've never heard of or a liberal baffoon who I don't like.

it's a WCD thread. so Ho hum, hmm?

Maddow is one tough cookie. Hopelessly liberal, indeed. Unlike her counter-parts, however, she comes to class prepared. I see most people who rebut her end up doing the, "finger in the ears...lalalalalalala...I can't hear you" routine. Fact, schmacks..... She is under the false illusion that most people give a damn about facts. These days, if the facts don't line up with personal ideology, it's "lalalalalalalalalalalalalala." No ideology is above that it either. I see both sides doing it. I just wish the righties had somebody that could just stand on facts rather than whatever it is they are standing on.

Still, it's all designed to entertain.

He's absolutely right. It has zero to do with "human rights" because once you label it that way you can't deny any two or more humans of any lifestyle marriage because the same argument would be used.

So she's pissed because he spoke out against the bill?

The only thing she caught him on was prop 8 and its mute because he won.

Myself, I have always considered most folks who claim the profession of faith not much more than snake-oil salesmen in the first place.

Look what they are selling to begin with. Call me jaded but telling lies from the pulpit really doesn't strike me one way or another.

When dog bites man, it's not news. When man bites dog, it news. Preachers lying, not news.

Which brings us to the age-old philosophical question. If man tells an untruth unknowingly, is he a liar? I mean, if the guy REALLY believes in all that religious mumbo-jumbo he tries to sell to the masses, can he be faulted for lying? Is he exempt from honesty?

When daddy and mommy tell Jr. there is a Santa Claus and he is going bring him lot's of presents, is that a lie? When Jr. tells his little buddy that he got lot's of presents from Santa, is that a lie?

Dog bites man. No news here.

Is that all it takes to become a "dishonest sleazeball"?!!...

Wow! Tough crowd.

No, that's not all it takes, it's just one link in a long chain.

Yes you can. ;) And all of the alternative lifestyle marriages he mentioned were allowed in the Bible at one point or another, so what's his problem?

He changed his story. Initially he said he had no opinion on it (people being executed just for being gay). Any sane and moral person would have an opinion on it (and it wouldn't be positive). Nice try.

The only thing she caught him on was prop 8 and its mute because he won.
A blatant lie coming from a "man of God" isn't a moot issue if you have any ethics (but since when have Christians ever had any morals?)
