From what I read on this left leaning article things appear to moving along swimmingly. Right on schedule. Maybe you should text Trump and tell him how you misinterpret things. I am sure that would be a crushing blow.
 
A couple reasons Putin is being like he is.

When the Soviet Union broke up and told these countries they could have self rule there was a condition. Nato was not to expand to include any of them. Whether the West promised them that I just don't know.

Putin was opposed to the break up and will if he can reunite them all, not just Ukraine.

An even bigger obstacle to further talks may have been the arrival in Kyiv on April 6 of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. According to Davyd Arakhhamia, Ukraine’s chief negotiator at Istanbul, “Johnson brought two simple messages to Kyiv. The first is that Putin is a war criminal; he should be pressured, not negotiated with. And the second is that even if Ukraine is ready to sign some agreements on guarantees with Putin, they [the NATO powers] are not.” Three days after Johnson returned home Putin announced publicly that talks with Ukraine “had reached a dead end.” For his part, Johnson promised Zelensky $130 million of military equipment and $500 million kin financial aid, while President Biden announced a $800 million military package to Ukraine.

The blood of Ukrainians is on the hands of the Koch brothers, all the military industrial complex supporters, Biden, Zelensky, and the Azov battalion, for starters. There are a lot more players, but those are a good representative start in naming the guilty. Oh, and all of Europe that thought it such a great idea to overthrow one corrupt government for another in Ukraine. We've done NOTHING to improve the lives of Ukrainians, but we've done plenty to make money off of them. No worries though, the American taxpayer will pick up the tab.

Pick a lane - it can't be all things at once. Schrödinger's Trump.

Democrat policies are generally stronger (in my opinion) and Dems should be able to win more of these elections - yet they keep finding ways to lose. This kind dialogue makes them look ridiculous and it's a big reason why people are turned off by team blue lately.

He’s helped hundreds of thousands die…but since he’s been a fixture in DC for 50 years, he’s not losing sleep for one more wave of destruction, we agree.

I'm not an expert, but starting negotiations before he is sworn in, is pretty shaky ground, legally speaking. I believe.
