Putin agrees to ceqse fire. This should make the left angry. TRUMP DID IT

I just assume the lives of our russia trolls are void, such that defending putin--or perhaps being one of the last remaining birthers or climate-change deniers--is the only remaining way they can get anyone to recognize their empty existence.

Then I speculate that the suicide rate of their cohort must be remarkably high, but not even that observation generates any empathy for them or their cries for help.
Empathy, decency, sense of fair play, integrity, critical thinking skills, common sense, even the sense of self-preservation.....all these have been groomed out of their voters by Republican politicians and propagandists.

Where is the Putin saving the Ukrainian's bs?

You'll notice a heavy increase in the use of the words "provocation" and "escalation," words used much more frequently in the russian language, imo, than in English, especially when the topic is international affairs.

Our trolls are so sympathetic to russia's position that they have even adopted russian speaking quirks.

Funny how quick peace came when Trump withdrew military funding and aid from Ukraine.

Democrats are about to blow up, this will not make them happy.

The left are so pathetic

Agrees to a cease fire as long as Ukraine gives him every single thing that he wants.

Get those rubles, comrade.

Another possibility is that they love murderous authoritarians and missile strikes on children's hospitals.

Because they do, you know.

Comes to wanking to RT. You get a new set of speech quirks, hairy palms, and bad vision.

Putin kept the American envoy waiting outside his office for eight hours beyond the meeting time, before delivering his "agreement" alongside a shopping list of impossible preconditions. He's taking the piss.

Yeah, so they are a collection of psychopaths, rubes, sadists, cowards, near-suicides, and imbeciles.

Not really. Russia used western engineers and western parts in their refineries. They never caught up with the west after the USSR fell. They took the easy way out and just farmed it out. Russia is very insecure about their technical prowess and for good reason.

paywalled ^ you got anything else on sanctions and Russian extractions?

If you work for Trump, be prepared for continual humiliation with your boss' blessing.

Putin knows Trump is tough right?

Putin's.. demands really..
1. No NATO / No NATO peace keepers . no NATO on Russian border (doable)

2. DeNazification and demilitarization of Ukr (not doable on both)

3. Use of a ceasefire by Ukr to improve it's logistics / personnel / supplies ( see link below)

Putin said “Russian troops are advancing in almost all areas of the front… So how will these 30 days be used? For forced mobilisation to continue in Ukraine, for weapons to be delivered there, for the newly-mobilised units to be trained? … How can we and how will we be guaranteed that nothing like that will happen? How will control be organised?”

Yuri Ushakov, Putin’s foreign policy adviser, also said on Thursday that the 30-day pause in fighting would only help Ukrainian troops regroup, deeming the ceasefire a “temporary respite” for the Ukrainian army.

In recent months, Ukraine has suffered manpower shortages. In January, Ukrainian troops retreated from Kurakhove, a town in Ukraine’s Donetsk region, when Russian troops claimed control...

*
Kursk surrounded Ukr troops were mentioned today they get POW treatment if they surrender*

4. Putin also questioned how the ceasefire would be monitored and who would ensure that both parties are following the agreement.

As usual, the mistake the west makes is listening to what putin says.

His country is weak. The west simply needs to ignore him completely and dictate what will happen, and then follow through completely.

Throughout, it will be putin's job to issue daily nuclear threats. The west, of course, should ignore these threats as well.

Unfortunately, Trump is also weak, so weak that he wants to make a deal with a putin who has never honored any past agreement, in the hopes that putin will like him personally.

How is number 1 doable when NATO already has nations on Russia’s border?

If you are unfamiliar with anatta's takes on this situation, they are all hot garbage, and he will repeat them without change for years, despite their obvious mistakes, one of which you have pointed out here.

If you are familiar with anatta, please disregard the above.

I'm starting to wonder schadenfreude might well play a part in MAGA's seeming indifference to putin's attacks on children.

Or maybe it's outright blood lust.

Oh, yeah, that's pretty clear.

Good god, trump is like a teenager.

This show putin's contempt for the United States of America.

But trump is MAGA....right?

It's the same as that cancer-ridden kid that got stopped at the border while heading for treatment.

Once you go far enough down the rabbit hole, that must seem reasonable.

Has anyone on the pro-Ukrainian side demanded revenge strikes on Russian schools? No. Because both conservatives and liberals still have a soul (I do have one, it's just very small).

Your hard right and hard left are all about children's hospitals getting hammered, and then trying to explain why it's the USA's fault.

...There was only one company that knew how to repair the gasoline-producing unit at the NORSI refinery, located on the Volga River, some 430 km (270 miles) east of Moscow. The problem was that the company is American, according to five sources familiar with the incident.

The firm, petroleum engineering multinational UOP, had withdrawn from Russia after the country invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

"They (the engineers) rushed around to find spare parts and they couldn't find anything," said a source close to Lukoil, who asked not to be named because he is not allowed to speak to the media. "Then the whole unit just stopped."

Four other sources said the unit - a catalytic cracker used to convert heavier hydrocarbons into gasoline - has been out of production since January and it was not clear when it could be repaired due to a lack of expertise inside Russia. The KK-1 unit is one of only two catalytic crackers at the plant.

As a result, the NORSI refinery - the fourth-biggest in Russia - has cut gasoline production by 40%, according to two of the sources. Lukoil did not respond to requests for comment for this story.

The Lukoil refinery is an example of wider problems in Russia's energy sector where some oil firms are struggling in the face of Western sanctions to repair their refineries, built with the help of U.S. and European engineering firms, according to at least 10 Russian industry sources.

The difficulties have been exacerbated by Ukrainian drone attacks that have struck at least a dozen Russian refineries this year
, the industry sources said. The attacks forced Russian refineries to shut in some 14% of capacity in the first quarter, according to Reuters calculations.

"If the stream of drones continues at this rate and Russian air defences don't improve, Ukraine will be able to cut Russian refining runs quicker than Russian firms will be able to repair them," said Sergey Vakulenko, an expert on Russia's energy industry and non-resident fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, an international affairs think tank....

But if Ukrainian troops are captured, putin will have them executed as terrorists....right?

How exactly does one take an oil refinery offline indefinitely short of a nuke?
You hit the valve tree at the bottom of the cracking tower. The fire goes everywhere, and those valves are not cheap.

And Russians being Russians, the critical spares were sold to other nations by corrupt oligarchs.

Gonna be interesting, because the volunteers Putin also says won't be spared were in fact inducted into the Ukrainian army, and are therefore covered by the Hague and Geneva treaties.

Of course we all know how much value Putin has for treaties or his word.

Until China bails the Russians out. That damage would not result in “indefinite” disabling of the refinery.
