I know and have seen some breeds command some hefty price tags. But there is 'fair'(?) and **** you.

Present situation. Lost our rescue Lab last spring, got suckered and took in our little feral kitten recently, and our Toy Yorkie is not well. May not be long to make the call there... 😔
Been kind of waiting until we have to let her go to bring in a new pup. Will of course be taking in another rescue(whatever mutt we like) and looking to get another Toy.

Wife got it in her head last night and started going on about it last night. Come home today to, "hey honey!" Oh no...:cautious::ROFLMAO:

Been looking, made a call. PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFTTTT!!!!!!!!

For one, Petland, nope. Done heard enough of supposed puppy mill sourcing.

But it comes with all shots, a crate, and toys! And if you make a reservation to see said puppy, you receive a 600 dollar discount!
A puppy for the low, low price of 4400 dollars!

********************************* you.
Said it should come with lifetime vet visits and supply of food for that price!

Another private seller/breeder, 4000. Another, only 3000!

She got our present Yorkie about 6 months or so before we met, and turned out what she walked into when going to look at was pretty well a mill. Bad conditions.😔
Is an AKC papered Yorkie though.

Granted, over 15 years ago, but was a grand. I'm good with that, maybe 1500 or so. Fine, a little more if I have to. But nothing can ever replace our Little Bit.

Even though so cute and want to take them all, I'll take a mutt long before I'll pay 5k for a dog.

Not too net savy, so told her, "let me get to looking around for breeders, reviews, legitimacy."

Saw something last night about scanning a code from some site for more info about a cute little puppy.
Don't scan any QR and click a link about a 'cute little puppy'! Your bank account may not have funds in it long after for that 5k puppy.

Nope, now another call made at 2600 for a male, or 2100 for a female 3 hours away. Uh uh...

A friend paid 5k for a Maine Coon kitten. The sickliest thing I've ever seen (the cat, not the friend).
Those Coons are the step before a Bobcat. :ROFLMAO: Beautiful though.
Have you considered a rescue dog?
As mentioned, we will have a larger rescue again along with a Yorkie.

I'm fine with mutts, but fell in love with our little Toy myself. She crawled up and tucked herself up near my shoulder when laying back from the time we met. 🥲

5k, heartstrings snap!

Maybe visit your local rescue? Puppies are $300 at ours and some adoptions are free. Why not give one of them a forever home?

This is just my opinion but I feel this purebred nonsense is just wrong. A dog is not a collectable. This the reason we have puppy mills and massive animal rescues.

Repeat on we will be taking another rescue soon. Gave our last a good 13+ year life.

But still set on another Yorkie as well. Good luck on the rescue/adoption price there.

But period, the market price/profit is rather ridiculous.

So is a bobcat eh?
Nah. Had a Bobcat dart across the highway late one night on a road trip home several years ago.
Definatly larger than a 24 inch body length.

Not a lion, but not a house cat.

It is, no doubt. That's why there is a market for the breed.

I paid over a grand for a tiny dog I fell for instantly twenty years ago. I don't regret it at all. She died a couple years ago, and I miss her.

That being said, I doubt that I will purchase a dog that way again. Could happen, but probably not.

I guess only had tiny housecats. Nothing even close to 2 feet.

Most of my dogs were rescues, with the exception of the Huskies I bred 25 years ago. The last rescue came from a private rescue facility that didn't house any of their rescues, they lived with foster parents. They specialized in hybrids...crosses between 2 pure breeds. I paid 500.00 for Peaches, a 7 month old Ratcha. She was fully socialized, spayed, and chipped. Looking back on it, I would be just as happy with a pound puppy from the humane society. 4-5K for a puppy is just nuts. There's a whole lot of puppies out there for far less who need good homes too!

Right now I have 2 mutts and a rescue Staffordshire, which I have to say is the best dog I've ever owned in terms of being a berserk little shit and a world class ratter (very important in the desert).
