Pulling out-when and under what circumstances?

Why are we still in Germany?

Why are we still in Japan?

Why are we still in Korea?

There is no "plan" to get out of Iraq.

The American people will have to force the government out, like we did in Viet-Nam. (a country which ended up just fine, without an American occupation)

For the same reason we are still in Iraq

There is no "plan" to get out of Iraq.
There's no "plan" to get us out of Germany, et al.

Yes.
Our effort in Iraq can only fail if the people of the United States loose heart.
Thats what the anti-Bush people are hoping for, and that us their goal they work towards.

Viet-Nam ...a country which ended up just fine, without an American occupation)

Viet Nam has ended up just fine...after the deaths of how many thousands who died in 're-education camps' or trying to flee ('voting with their feet')?

In recent years, a new generation of Vietnamese leaders have, thankfully, made the integration of Vietnam into the world's economy a priority, a complete about face as compared to the policies of the country's leaders at the time of the fall of South Vietnam.

we should leave Iraq when the Iraqis dont need us any more. While this may be quite some time, remember that we are STILL in Korea, Japan, German,y England and The Balkans. Why? Because they need us.

If we leave before they don't need us, then all that has been spent has been spent for naught.

Surely you jest. American troops are not in Japan, England or Germany because they are needed there. It's called having staging areas for getting troops into, and out of, trouble spots where they may be needed. Removing them would have literally no effect on the countries in question, other than loss of rent in some cases.

As far as leaving Iraq, it had better be at some point after reconstructing the infrastructure they've destroyed and order is restored. Anytime sooner would be irresponsible and morally reprehensible.

How many administrations should we look forward to before this happens? We have surely committed a good portion of our military for quite some time. I hope in the end it is worth it.

The time it takes is largely dependent on the capability and planning of those in power and those assigned to the rebuilding effort. Could be fairly quick, could take decades.

If it's not done properly and to completion, then it definitely will not have been worth it. It will have just been a waste of lives, time and money.

As I understand it, the president wants us to stay in Iraq until the new government's military is capable of defending themselves and showing the resolve to fight. In a recent article, U.S. Representative Ron Paul of Texas asks us if this is truly a practical thing to do. Here is a smattering of some of the more important points that he makes.

-in regards to the "if we leave, all #@%% will break out" theory.

-As well as some historical examples that show otherwise.

When should we pull out of Iraq?

Do you favor Rep. Paul's views? Why or why not?

What other options are available to us at the moment?

Actually, in Vietnam, after US troops left that country, from what I understand the domino theory was proven correct. I read somewhere that it is a myth perpetuated by the media that the domino theory was proven wrong.

They were left there for over 45 years because they were needed there

Yes pull out of Iraq and lets see what happens, then take it from there.
we then have tried our best, and if it does not work we could always ask the help of Nato or the UN. take a chance and save our SOLDIERS.

thats my thoughts, just trying to save lives.

what do u think

kind regards
