700,000 jobs were lost in November of 08, bringing the year's total job losses to 2.6 million or the highest level in more than six decades. Kinda hard to ignore them number no matter how hard you try eh? :2wave:
How many lost since Obama took over?
A better question would be, 'If we had added jobs since Obama took over, would he claim credit for it?'Does Obama control this? If he does, then government IS the answer!

Answer, of course he would.
Does Obama control this? If he does, then government IS the answer!

The only unemployment numbers that count are the country wide percentages, not snap shots, and so far they're holding at 9.4 percent, 1.4 percent lower than the 10.8 percent when Regan was president in 1981.
ricksfolly
Obama said it would stay below 8%. The stimulus has not created the jobs Obama said it would. Then we have this.
Applications for jobless benefits rise to 462K - Yahoo! Finance
More people applied for unemployment benefits last week, the first rise in three weeks and evidence that companies are reluctant to hire in a slow economy.
Initial claims for unemployment aid rose by 13,000 to a seasonally adjusted 462,000, the Labor Department said Thursday. It was only the second rise in two months.
Care to cite a historical incident of a financial/leverage crisis where private sector jobs bounced back quickly?
Good luck with that.
Of course he did. And he was hoping, fingers crossed an all. And if he controlled it, it would have bene less. He doesn't. But as long as you expect the president to control it, the president, no matter who he is, will make such claims and hope. And will take credit when it happens, or is anywhere close.
You mean he lies and does it blatantly.
I mean all politiicans lie, and do so blatantly. Some just tell less forgivable lies, like those that cost lives. And I argue we ask for it. We demand he control something he doesn't control, and will hoold him accountable for something he isn't accountable for. We do that with all presidents. Your complaint that he hasn't fixed the economy is part of the problem. You open the door for both blame and credit claims because you would use his failure as much as we would use what looks like success. Hardly logical to criticism him for what you're doing. And that's true no matter who did it first.
We do not expect him to fix it he keeps claiming he can fix it.
Then you should be arguing with him that he can't. Right? unless of course you believe he can.
He could help the private sector with incentives to expand and create jobs. Obama can not do it by expanding government as he is trying to do.
obama is doing exactly that. geez.
So raising taxes and increasing insurance costs helps how? He is doing nothing for business

I'm sure there is more than one approach to try and help, but what you suggest has been tried before and seldom saw any results. The only sure way is to have people at the bottom spending. It's a tough cycle to break, and not something government controls.
People at the bottom do not create jobs. People are still producing. I was out of a truck for a year because of back surgery. Tomorrow I start my 3rd job this year. This means shipping is still going strong. I just changed jobs for better home time.
people at the top don't create unless there is reason to create. they have to know there are people spending money. That's why trickle down has never worked. You can give the top all the breaks you want, and nothing will happen. Only when people start buying will the top move forward.
Wrong. They will not create when they do not know the costs the government is adding through Obamacare and taxes.
I'm sorry, but business has no trouble dealing with government. they have always had to deal with government and do soo fine. they won't throw away profit because of government. Sure, they'll talk the scare talk, but they will act when there is money to get.
These are uncertain times so business will not expand. Here is a hypothetical. A small business makes $200,000 profit a year.Lets say Obamacare costs them $750 a month per employee. That is $9000 a year times 10 which is $90,000. Now their profit is $110,000 that leaves little to expand and hire people.
