There seems to be more than one group who supports child molesters. University students, for example.
Imo this is a non-issue, and needs to be put to bed. Logic dictates that you don't demonize a whole group/institution for the actions of some. I would think all political parties, including the liberal party, would understand this.
You've misunderstood. No one is blaming every individual in the catholic church. It's the organization itself that is corrupt.
There is no liberal party. There is no conservative or liberal institution. The Catholic Church is an institution in which people hold definable poistions of power and you can logically criticise it for its crimes. It has its own state. I can criticise the state of Syria without demonising all Syrians for example. I would criticise Syrians who willfully ignore the crimes of the hierarchy however.
But how is that fair? The organization comprise hundreds if not thousands of people.
So? An organization can be corrupt while some of the individuals within may not be. The same applies to the government, or to a country. Should every American be held responsible for the illegal wars in the middle east- Or the plundering of their national resources? Of course not. My mom's side of the family is largely Catholic. They're not perverts. All I am arguing is that the organization itself is corrupt. I don't know about each and every individual. Nor do I care.
But hey, their outdated views on contraception, despite the fact that 98% of Catholic women use it, needs to be respected and taken totally seriously.
What a bunch of screwballs.
The Catholic Church is one of the largest recipients of Federal money. Federal funds are not tithes to God, to do with as the Catholic Church wishes. Payments from the Federal government are PUBLIC funds.
This means that, if the Federal government decides that contraception must be provided by the Catholic Church, then the Catholic Church must provide it.
There is a simple solution for the Catholic Church that will allow them to refuse contraception to anyone it chooses. Simply stop taking money from the Federal government - Problem solved.
This goes with those who claim to be Conservatives too.
Either you support the refusal of Federal funds, or quit claiming how more Conservative you are than the other guy, because you aren't.
Could you document your claim here?
1st Amendment -
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;..."
Sorry, you are just plain wrong.
The government relies on religious charitable institutions to make up a significant portion of their 'safety net'... You can't have it both ways. You don't want that relationship anymore? Fine, you're only hurting those that rely on these programs for their survival, and that you constantly buy their votes for democrat candidates through promises of wealth shifting that is supposed to aid their lives, but in the end destroys them....lies, lies, lies....tsk, tsk....
Who are you to judge someones conservativism? You have NEVER been truthful of your own lean pal...Your not an Independant, Conservative, Libertarian, or anything other than a garden variety liberal who is chock full of mistruths.
You must really think alot of yourself....pity.

First Amendment can apply if the Catholic Church decides to stop taking in Federal money. Otherwise, it takes the money with the Federal strings attached.
As far as asking me to prove that the Catholic Church receives Federal money, that is a no brainer. From the Wall Street Journal:
Finally, in response to your silly little snide remark:
I suggest that, instead of name calling, you might try to keep up.
So, in the spirit of "trying to keep up" with your logic Dana, You are saying that since the Catholic Church partners with the government to help it aid the poor, homeless, and indigent.....then the government should be able to tell the church, 'screw your teachings, we will tell you what you can do, or say'? Well, screw that!
j-mac
That's your opinion.
I suppose we can insult all Muslims/Muslim leaders for the actions of some, eh?
Someone needs a history lesson. By all means, please post a link supporting that claim. Thanks.
OMFG....you obviously have a very limited understanding of Buddhist Philosophy (Note I said Philosophy, as it is not a religion, and has no GOD). Understand I am not Buddhist either, but know enough to respect the path and take from it what I can. The lifestyle is almost as opposite from Catholic teachings as you can get. I was raised Catholic, have read six versions of the Bibles, studied Jehovah, delved into the QU'Ran, and even read the book of Mormon for Kicks...I would recommend you try not to test me on the art of Religion, it wont end well.

Remember, according to the latest GOP talking points, the Catholic church is exempt from most laws. The Government can't force the priests to turn each other in.
Cover up is sacrament.
Nope, Federal funds represent money from the taxpayers, which include non-Catholics, as well as Catholics. The Catholic church does NOT have the right to decide that it is going to do things in accordance with it's religion, when it accepts funds from non-Catholics. That would be pushing their religion down the throats of ALL taxpayers, MOST of whom are opposed to the church's stance on birth control. If the Catholic Church wants to practice it's religion without government interference, then all they have to do is not accept the money. Nobody is putting a gun to their head, telling them that they have to take it.
It's very easy. Don't be a whore and take the money.
