Presidential authorization required for airstrikes

Remember, repeating talking points doesnt make it true.

What's the mission ???

The Obama administration are clueless.

They are all over the board. Kerry says we are not at war while on the same day the White House says we are at war.

Obama can't even build a coalition because most of the world leaders don't respect or trust Obama.
G.H. Bush was able to build a coalition during the first Gulf war (Desert Storm) because Bush entered the White House personally knowing all of the world leaders and they respected Bush.
Obama entered the White House not knowing any of the world leaders and with in a year had lost respect by most of the world leaders. Nobody is in awe with Obama.

What's the mission ?

To destroy ISIL/ISIS ?

To dismantle ISIL/ISIS ?

To keep ISIL/ISIS in check ?

Once this incompetent Obama administration decides what the mission is, then issue the orders to the military what the mission is and then stand back and let the military accomplish the mission.

Ahhh more talking points I see and are trying to switch the subject now to the "mission"..

Because I know the answers and Obama doesn't.

I don't mean to derail this thread, but I ran across this paper recently and thought it was interesting. It gives an idea of the scale of what may be needed to defeat these people, in air power and otherwise. Anyone can see it's a far larger effort than anything President Pinprick is talking about. But then he doesn't care about defeating them--he only wants to do enough so he looks like he is dealing with the problem.

Kagan is not a military man himself, and he sticks to talking about military forces in fairly general terms. But national defense strategy is not purely a military issue, and there is room to consider ideas from outside the military. Some of the main figures behind the largely successful "containment" strategy the U.S. followed against the Soviet Union during the Cold War were civilians. Kagan has had good ideas before--the 2007 "surge" in Iraq that succeeded in turning the war in favor of this country owed a lot to proposals he had made that caught the attention of the administration's strategists.

That's high end.

I've only had the pleasure a few times.

I know it is, once I get to the liquor store I will most likely settle on the 12 year Scotch instead of the 18. There is a big price difference. I am leaving soon. I should get it on base, but that is a longer drive. I will go support my local liquor store instead.

You Porchev sound like someone I would enjoy an evening with along with a good bottle of aged scotch discussing everything from turkey bologna to quantum mechanics.

Executive micromanagement of military operations has failed.

That type of micromanagement is bad. That's why a military staff exists, to conduct military operations in accordance with the president's overall goal.

I'd have to agree.

Its the norm, and I believe its even law, that the Commander in Chief has to give the military the green light to conduct airstrikes in another country.

Sure. Just as long as it's not on a target by target basis. That's what has failed before, and is sure to fail again.
