In fact many, invariably leftists, are often calling any criticism of Islamic atrocities "racist" sensing perhaps that these "Islamophobic" charges, when there is far more hatreds expressed and acted out against Jews and Christians, are quite ridiculous. The Inquisition = mass murder in the name of a Christian God.

Of the 120,000 people who were investigated by the various inquisitions over the course of 160 years less than 2 percent were executed. While that is still bad, it is nowhere near the bloodbath that it is made out to be. Execution for secular crimes dwarfed the number executed for religious crimes. So 16 a year, or 20 if you take the higher estimate. It was certainly bad, but nowhere near the mass slaughter that uneducated anti-Christians paint it to be.

A truly devastating war that started as a rebellion against Rome and became about political control of Europe as the Holy Roman Empire went into decline. As an indicator of how non-religious the war actually was, Catholic France allied with the Protestant powers against the Catholic, Habsburg controlled Spain and the Holy Roman Empire while and the Bohemians allied with the Muslim Ottoman empire.

It wasn't about religion, it was about power.
